the thing is for sales line, my parents want me to start with a basic first.....Originally posted by moongster:In Singapore context, my advice is go for a job but don't get caught up in the rat-race. Basically, have a personal goal and plan to be financially independent. Invest your time wisely. Money lost can be earned back, but time lost can never be gotten back.
By the way, a diploma or degree only help you get a job, it does not determine if you are successful or not. My point is you can still do well in financial line if you put in the effort.
Please read the first paragraph of my previous post again. My point is you can have a job that gives you basic pay, and you do something as a sideline (maybe no basic pay but with high commision).Originally posted by duotiga83:the thing is for sales line, my parents want me to start with a basic first.....

Ultimately, you need to think about what you want. If you so sure that you want to take the plunge, go ahead.
I think that it is okay to take high risks when you are young. The benefits are two-fold. If you succeed, you will be achieving it at a very young age. If you fail, you can recover faster as you are young and time is on your side. My advice is still the same, invest your time wisely.

Why limit to financial services? You can be part-time real-estate agents, tuition teacher, part-time music teacher (if you play music)..... you get the driftOriginally posted by duotiga83:not the case for finaical service....is FT job and you cannot have sideline job at the same time...saw the contract before......

Always pick the one with the most $$$ MONEY $$$.Originally posted by duotiga83:Which one shld i choose? In need of $$$ nw so which area of job shld i go...as the latter need to fork out $$$ for exams......
Hey thanks for the advise.....the agent tio gan me just call me ask me try the job again.....cos last time the company offer me $1650 + shift allowance......plus is near my hme....so gonna go for the interview later...Originally posted by parn:Always pick the one with the most $$$ MONEY $$$.
Initially when I first started to work, I was thinking of getting experience and working in a good environment and of course good money. I recently come to terms that experience/environment doesn't matters....cos you will get experience as long as you continue to keep working even to the extend of job hopping. You will get good environment as long as you're a nice and friendly person. <-- It depends alot on your personality.
One thing that you can't change is the $$$ MONEY $$$. If your job gives you low pay, then you'll be stuck with that low pay until you're appreciated. No matter how experienced you are or whatever great personality and working attitude you have....won't get you more $$$ MONEY $$$.
If you have a choice to work in a job that pays you more, just think about the pay difference between the two jobs in a year and you'll realised how much money you could've earned/saved/wasted.
Good luck.

My fren jobless for 3 mths!
okay i agree with u but some jobs do not really require specific knowledge. tasks are directly affecting your commission (e.g sales) so die die u have to please your clients or customers...u do that well of course u get your comission . a diploma or degree is what some representatives of employers (i will not put the blame on employers) are using as a chip on the table to mark your renumeration downOriginally posted by moongster:In Singapore context, my advice is go for a job but don't get caught up in the rat-race. why now accept again...cannot find job? i never go back to my previous employment - never. and when i rejected interview for a position...i will never beg or plead coz i respect the employers' decision and i hope they respect mine...when they say no means no ans i say no means no no negotiating for special title renumeration haggling tink wat pasa malan...the way i see this employer and yourself presenting this whole issue is hilarious...the position can wait unitl u comply...u can decide to take it up later in time....i thought we're playing some RPG games hereOriginally posted by duotiga83:just kanna tio gan by one agent cos of this job

actually got secure last time i reject last time....now reapply again.....
this is pure speculation...get a full time job and put it as your priority...if u are at at exempt/ executive level u may have to put in extra hours to oversees or manage/ do liason to get things moving (not-manual jobs, they should be paid by the hour/ day basis)...in such a case having sideline may hinder your roles to be played in your full time job...in this scenerio its a no-no so some company enforce this rule. otherwise if u can manage your full-time job well and work out a time table for your part time job why can't u do it? i was blur once like u a fresh grad no working experience i never talk to my friend snad family or even write to my dear diary, helpline or forums...why the economy bad like africa u cannot even find a job to feed your stomach the 3 (or more) meals it require in a day?Originally posted by duotiga83:not the case for finaical service....is FT job and you cannot have sideline job at the same time...saw the contract before......
