The politically correct term is high numbers.
Chinese New Year has new currency notes printed because of high demand.
Hari Raya and Deepavali demand not high enough.
New school name in hanyu pinyin, Tamil, Malay.
Show of hands for which name to pick.
Hanyu Pinyin always has the most.
So we have names like Jiemin, Peixin, Shuqun for schools.
And other unpronounceable names.
Mentioning race is out of bounds. -

They work for lower pay and also are loyal to the company due to the fact that their Employment Pass is applied by the company.
If you are so worried about retrenchment, then you probably will , I suggest you focus on the job and give the correct feedback . -

you dont treat people who are different from you as nicely.
and skin colour is one of teh most obvious things.
the brain immediately registers the person as DIFFERENT.

im talking bout those PRC who were given PR here when they cant speak english...the reasons why the ads r placing mandarin speakers only coz theres a lot of PRC here!...so to accomodate em..we non chinese need to learn mandarin to survive is it? why is that so when Spore official language is english?? why cant those ppl learn english! so there will be no language barrier.. -

the singapore pledge is only a mockery of actual reality. -
FYI, National language is MALAY. English, mandrain and tamil are official languages.
And to jobs that prefer chinese. I dont support that but in some cases, there are truly no choices. As some have explained above. -
i know what u mean.... there is indeed discrimation everywhere.... people just tend to 'hang out' with people of same language, same culture etc.... and they tend to sometimes treat people of same 'colour' better.... i m not disputing this obvious fact... what i feel is that people can do what people do... but i definitely want to respect everyone as individuals.... regardless of 'colour'! If you're malay, the discrimination is in religion (cannot wear tudung in school and in the office or certain organisations) , discrimination in NUS and NTU - subject to quota so the numbers of malays going to higher instituition is always kept low, discrimination in Armed Forces...shall i go on? Yes, and discrimination in getting jobs. Everywhere, ads says "Chinese or mandarin speaking only". And the worst part? Malays are not allowed to take mandarin in school. So how? then govt keep saying malays have highest retrenchment nos in times of recession. Of cos lah, duh... sigh...
