And you are not a Malay or Indian...Originally posted by valentinoo:dont talk CO-CK...im a muslim but im not indian or malay...i have to pay fees...my malay classmates also have to pay fees but cheaper a bit..its never FREE...

im wondering if the non chinese here learn how to speak mandarin...then will we be offered the job? haha...i think the govt should just tell everybody here to learn english n mandarin since they r importing more n more mandarin speakers....Originally posted by dinky1409:If that is true, then yea maybe those PR should be going for Eng classes. But usually the companies they want to recruit people who can speak Eng and Mandarin right? Not Mandarin only right? The problem here is probably not with the companies, but because of the nature of the customers they will deal with. Correct some old people can speak malay lah but preferably Chinese mah..

don't worry.Originally posted by expiringpoet:ok, i see yr point about the hypocrisy issue...ya lah, what to do?
Well, this race issue has been debated and brought up time and again, and everytime the SAF issue comes up, the Lee family keep bringing up the point about malays not being ready...not being ready for what?
And i cannot stand them giving excuse that if spore ever go to war with malaysia, then malays may not want to kill the malays from across the border. But then, SAF bring in malaysian chinese into SAF can! How like that? They think the malaysian chinese born PR wont have second thots about going to war with their remnant family members in malaysia? Why the double standards?
Well, for me its just sad that as a malay or muslim born in singapore, our loyalty to our own country is questioned. And somehow the loyalty of a PR or foreignor coming here to live is of purer standard.
yup everyone is trying to be diplomatic... but the topic is actually bout minorities being treated like a non singaporean just coz we dont speak mandarinOriginally posted by udontknowme:no DIRECT racist remarks...
come on, frens...we're not fighting each other here. But questioning policiesOriginally posted by udontknowme:no DIRECT racist remarks...
Like I said, nothing wrong with you saying that because of your views and experiences but don't make it general because some might not agree like me, also a Malay, although there are some cases in which I might share the same views as you but when I thought of some cases that disagree with the views, hence I concluded that it would be unfair to generalise it.Originally posted by valentinoo:why wud they chinese and indians in malaysia cry foul when they KNOW they r LIVING in a MALAY LAND??? the govt make it obvious they r living in a malay country... for us its different we r living in a multi racial state! yet all the unfair policies!
im just tryin to point out that the minorities r not gettin da treatment like the chinese r getting....but u ppl just dont get it...and think its normal

I noticed from the start of the thread you keep saying "not being fair to da minority". And so far from what you are argueing, its only about a job not being offered to you.
Really no offence, but since you are quite sure, can you please list what are the unfair treatments that the minority get? Other than not being offered a job?![]()
Its better to tell you before you get to see the Environment you know that cannot accomodate you even before you submit your application.Originally posted by valentinoo:i dont care bout other stuff! we need JOB to survive! it irks me to see all those mandarin speakers chinese prefered jobs ad...

yesssssssssss u r right..its the environment...theres no place for minority hereOriginally posted by OH-FF:Its better to tell you before you get to see the Environment you know that cannot accomodate you even before you submit your application.![]()
Answer to that is YES. I know of people who went for mandarin classes and got those mandarin spoken required jobs. And they are malay. And, I think learning multi-languages had been encouraged by the government.Originally posted by valentinoo:im wondering if the non chinese here learn how to speak mandarin...then will we be offered the job? haha...i think the govt should just tell everybody here to learn english n mandarin since they r importing more n more mandarin speakers....
Is it ok if you just give a little bit of information on what job rejected you? Is it in a service line or what?Originally posted by valentinoo:i dont care bout other stuff! we need JOB to survive! it irks me to see all those mandarin speakers chinese prefered jobs ad...

ok..if only we KNOW the TRUTH..... right now i guess we all learn mandarinOriginally posted by dinky1409:Answer to that is YES. And I spoke to Mendaki directly myself. The school fees for MALAYS, I REPEAT MALAYS AND NOT MUSLIMS, is free. Only need to pay the miscellaneous fees. Not cheaper or what so ever. So of course lah still must pay for some stuff. Then expect canteen food also free meh? Just an example that one..
Sometimes, when we think that something is unfair or prejudiced, it is equally unfair for us to judge them immediately because unless we know the truth and the underlying reason, then we can judge them or whatsoever.
So about the navy thing for example, unless you spoke to the Chief of Navy directly you don't know the actual reason so it will be unfair to make a judgement.
