i know Bangkok chatutchak got sell husky only for $700.(big ones)..too bad we live in Singapore

Good breed Siberian Huskies cost about 1800 - 2000.... Champion breeds more expensive but we dun need tht kind of quality... if you get local breed, it's below 1000, but it wont grow to a nice size... in fact it will look scrawny...
By they, you can never keep a husky if u're staying in HDB.... there wont be enough space.... and since u're a first timer in keeping dogs, u'll sure have lots of problems keeping a big dog.... go get a small dog first and see what it can do to your flat... -

Mine's corner flat, 4 room too. Rather big. Still my Golden doesn't have much space to work with.

since u want to keep the dog in a HDB flat, i seriously doubt u can get a license for it. which also means if u get a complain, u can be fined by AVA and HDB. AVA for not having a license for your dog and HBD for keeping such a big dog. after giving u a fine, they would ask u to give up your dog to someone else or risk having the dog sent to places like the SPCA.
u would need a deep pocket too. need to vaccinate, get toys, accessories, food, grooming and the occasional visit to the vet if the dog falls ill.
please think it tru properly b4 commiting to it. it is not all about u, what about ur family? they need to agree to it too. also spare a thought for the dog ya?
u notice how many ppl here are against u having it rite?

Hmm i like huskies too..
but think about it.. the last few weeks whenever you don't have aircon, in your house, when you walk around
imagine you have to wear a fur coat ALL the time.. in this type of weather...
And then you think about whether a huskie is suitable for local weather or not.
Even with the fan on and just wearing singlet and shorts, the weather can be so damn humid (and I live near the sea) - can't imagine what a torture it is for a husky.
so.. as the song goes, if u love him, let him go. -

hundreds of cats and dogs being put to sleep by the SPCA, but yet people go out and pay thousands for designer breeds. I remember when the 101 Dalmatians movie came out, hundreds of parents flocked to pet shops to buy Dalmatians for their spoilt little kids who were clamoring for one. Quite a number of them ended up being abandoned, put to the pound, or sold as they realized Dalmatians need quite a bit of care. Cuteness amuses for a while, but seriously consider if you have the time and inclination to take care of a pet. Remember, everyone loves babies, they just don't like to take care of them.

dogs do sleep during the day n esp. so when its hot. as to why she sleeps against chair legs...hmmm, perhaps she longs for some company? akin to sleeping with her mummy or siblings when she's younger? as for cushions, i guess u have a great cushion to sleep on?
as for walks, let her socialise with other dogs as well? (as in getting her interested) besides the usual walks, u may like to alternate between walking and playing to get her into the mood of walking. start with shorter walks around the neighbourhood and encourage her to carry on walking when you sensed her starting to slow down. increase that distance when she's more comfortable.
i do talk to my dog when we're walking...encouraging him on like "let's go, (ur dog's name)" or "good boy/girl" or "come on! let's go." etc. -

As in previous post my friend has one.
She lives in a bungalow and have a room just for the dog.
Air-con is on 24/7 for it
Despite that, and keeping fur coat trimmed, her dog suffers from extremely bad skin due to the hot weather and needs this special treatment bath at the Vet weekly which I think cost like about $80 per bathe.
Seriously huskies are not suitable for our weather here. I wonder at the fact why AVA is even allowing the breed to be imported into Singapore
Don't get me wrong, I love dogs and I would love to have a husky too but I wouldn't due to the climate here. -

My neightbour too got big dogs..but prob is my another neightbour is malay..troublesoem lots!
Im a reasonable person...makign sure my dog aint makin g too much noise..
and i'll only bring my dogs out in the abscence of the malay neightbours -

anyway, it seems like u are really bent on getting one... just keep in mind the regulations. don't complain if u get fine.
if u live in a condo, there is no regulation on wat type of dogs u want to keep. hell, u can keep a whole apck of dogs if u want....

Surprisingly, there're quite a number of condos that are much smaller in floorspace compared HDB flats....and condos can keep big dogs...what a contradiction..

honestly, you dont need air condition 24/7 for your husky, i adopted one for 6 months, and other than regular exercise, and a preferably other dogs to play with, there is really no difference than taking care of any other dog.Originally posted by olala:I knew how troublesome taking care of an pet can be...
