Yes the 1st few weeks of poly life is incredibly fun and slack and what-nots. But remember the lectures and tutorials and labs are there for a reason and if you're smart enough you can get your minimum of 75% or 80%(usually business schools) attendance.
The 1st year of poly is the best time to pull your GPA up above 3.5. Once you get into year 2 and 3 subsequently the modules are gonna get harder and if you're an average person like me(heeh) the A's are going to get hard to attain.
So my advice to you would be to enjoy and study smart at the same time. Those 3 years will go by in a flash. Trust me, i still couldn't believe i'm having my graduating ceremony next month. -

you'll have lots of fun during the 1st few months. the whole class will eat together, pon lessons today, play together, organise chalets & bbqs together and chiong together.
after a few months, the class will be divided into different cliques. after 1 or 2 semesters when the projects become stressful, the blame game will begin and politics will start and ppl will start to take sides. by the end of your poly life, you'll only be hanging out in your small clique
work hard during your 1st year and try to keep your gpa high, above 3.5 if possible. its gonna be tough from the 2nd year onwards. -

poly is great really...and to me, the downsides are those stupid bitches (the kinds who think they are very superior to you and enjoy laughing at you ones which actually equates to politics most of the times) and the transport fees.
take away all these, and poly is so fun! i used to be very affected by some ppl in my class, but now, in year 3, i think we kinda grew up and we just stayed away from each other.
and i really enjoy time with my clique!!! damn fun! so hope you enjoy your poly life too! (i kinda sad that i wasted 2 years getting depressed of silly ppl who talked bad about me. i should have closed my ears and opened my heart! ^^) -
I am from NYP also, Digital Media Design, just four weeks and life is getting stressful from so many assignments. Think carefully about everything before u make and decision. I'm not trying to say that u are making the wrong move. Just feel that u are like wasting your time.

1st year is honeymoon, but 2nd year u have to face foreign talents n jc students enrolled directly to challenge grades wif u.
it will be a dog eats dog world n feel the heat. u also see the true colour of some of ur friends start to show up n it is realistic dat most selfish students will avoid to help dabao students n those average students.
if u r good academic student, u will see u have alot of friends during exam period to ask for ur help. -

yeah! nyp rocks. i used to walk out of my sch, cross the road and have my lunch over at the foodcourts or macdonalds. so cool.

Anyway, how do u guys find Republic Polytechnic? I'm planning to do part time lecturing there next year whilst working. Graduating from SMU end of the year, so would like to hear from some present RP students.
