Marriot is a four-star hotel lah, not six-star... Ritz-Calton is the only six-star hotel in Singapore...
A wedding table package is about $888+++ per table... So you can divide by 10, each person invited should give a nominal Ang Bao of $88....
Since it's your good friend's wedding and you are going alone, $100 should be enough... -

ok...let me explain...i worked at marriot....as banquet server...theres lots of 5 star hotels in singapore...like continetal and swissotel...those 5 stars....marriot and mandrine also 5 stars....but....its more like middle class 5 stars.....
anyway per table hor...At least 1688....that was promo price...norm is more than that....so divide 10 ppl....at least 168 per head.....not cheap hor....anyway i feel if u are best man or close friend you should give more.....maybe 888 if u can...or 688 588 388 288 at least cover the cost per head la....

oh ya.....ppl say food portion small....but do u know...theres a total of 8 courses?u combine the portions together...its quite alot....then....sometimes the table oni 9 or 8 come...then u can take more....if u want to ta pao also can...just ask...,then the servers will pack for u....but u must sign a form....so that if u get food poisoning or wad the hotel is not respondsible le...

Think how much you give in red packets to newly weds should not primarily be based on the venue of the dinner but more on how close you are to one or both of them. The closeness of the relationship should take number 1 spot in determining the amount, venue comes next. 3rd thing to consider might be if he/she/they ever gave you, or you think will give you in the future, back the same amout or more....

I feel $88 is very good liao. If can afford it, go for $100.
If the hosts want to show off by holding it at expensive venue, they should be prepared to lose money big time. They cannot have their wedding cake and eat it too. -
