personally, i'm enjoy reading manga more. for example a character strike a cool pose, i can stare at it and admire it's artwork and details. same goes for the fight scene.
as for ichigo's dad, let's not spoil the fun for those who don't know. -

Manga ver. isn't that clear during fight scenes. Which Anime complimented it. The major details of each chapter in manga were alive in Anime.
However, manga ver. have solid storyline which is in the first place, the backbone of Anime.
One manga which did very well in both Manga and Anime is Slam Dunk.
Superb drawings and good Anime works. -
