Nice or not?

There is even greater likelihood most of the people who saw it dont like it, but dont care to comment.Originally posted by ellisbeck:Thanks Eikei, for sharing the reply with us.
Honestly, it is simply a politically correct response. Disappointing.
It's true that the logo may prove insignificant to many but the reactions that all of us had against the new logo simply showed our sense of identity with the zoo, with Singapore.
There is a very tiny likelihood that all of us in this thread still make up the minority, but I really doubt so.
Disappointing - that's all I can say.

But then, some smart aleck from the zoo will ask for stats![]()
this reminded me of a very disgusting period during my NS lifeOriginally posted by the Bear:don't care to comment... or don't DARE to comment?
working for the past 10 years, i've seen the effects when we dare to comment to superiors... maladjusted and insecure superiors will tend to tekan those who disagree with them, perpetrating sycophants in the organisation....
maybe the zoo isn't immune to that?
Well from the reply, they already say it . They are no longer interested in animals - but $$$Originally posted by Eikei:I'll share with you the reply I got from them after telling them to check out this thread and telling them the logo is pretty unpopular.
Seems like they really value their board's opinion over the mass opinion and also their board seems out of touch or have been pretty much blinded by the sales pitch of their Marketing Agency.
A logo is a image which represent the company! it cannot be taken for granted. even if they wanna change it... they should make it NICER than the previous ones.Originally posted by NT2:aiya..logo is a passing trend..after awhile they will change it again....not like designer brand..the logo die die cant change.

Dear XXXXXX,
Thank you for sharing your feedback and highlighting the sentiments posted on http://www.sgforums.com/.
We can appreciate that there may be many people with fond attachment to our Singapore Zoo logo. However, as part of Wildlife Reserves Singapore's (WRS) plans to refresh its parks' appeal, alongside upgrading of facilities it has undertaken the redesigning of the logos of Singapore Zoo and Jurong BirdPark.
This matter was discussed extensively by WRS Board members and Saatchi & Saatchi, the advertising agency who is familiar with our parks, was given a brief to undertake the design. We all know that logos are a subjective matter, often with some who like it and can relate to it and some who don't. So it was rather remarkable that the Singapore Zoo logo was unanimously endorsed by the Board recently. For Singapore Zoo, the move towards a more contemporary, typography style is aimed towards catering to a broader appeal amongst all age groups and not just the young. Historically, it has also been demonstrated that typographical logos withstand the test of time and is more enduring. For the Zoo, such a typography style also facilitates ease of applications for our wide variety of retail and merchandise items.
We are taking a phased-in approach for the logo change. Except for the major signage like those at the entrance and new advertising and collateral, the former logo on collateral will be replaced with the new logo only when we're doing a new reprint, thereby rendering it unnecessary to have additional budgets for the change.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your comments with us and allowing us the opportunity to clarify the matter.
Yours sincerely,
Pauline Tan

true...but designer r stubborn ppl..once they designed they will give all sorts of excuses to retain what they have designed. to change the design is a disgrace to themselves and very unlikely they will do so.Originally posted by mhcampboy:A logo is a image which represent the company! it cannot be taken for granted. even if they wanna change it... they should make it NICER than the previous ones.

They probably have a template for the response to counter the numerous complaints about the logo.Originally posted by ellisbeck:Thanks Eikei, for sharing the reply with us.

I don't think they understand that a logo which is 'unanimously approved by the Board' does not necessarily translate into 'unanimously approved by the general public'.Originally posted by mhcampboy:A logo is a image which represent the company! it cannot be taken for granted. even if they wanna change it... they should make it NICER than the previous ones.

Another NKF type of board !!!Originally posted by fudgester:I don't think they understand that a logo which is 'unanimously approved by the Board' does not necessarily translate into 'unanimously approved by the general public'.
The least they should have done is get some public feedback on the new logo before actually launching it. In the end, they are running the zoo for people to visit, and not for themselves to run it to their every whim and fancy.
And how much did it cost them to hire Saatchi & Saatchi to create that logo? I still think a five-year old kid could easily design that kind of logo for the cost of one lollipop.![]()
Precisely....how about those French, Russian, Japanese, etc tourists...typography is single language...a cute pictures says a thousand words.Originally posted by ysatul:it sucks. somemore wat about those who cannot understand english. should have some animals pic.
