I think we are lucky now that we can even study. Perhaps you need to read up after you attend lecture.

lectures are quite important actually, especially if u're not a genius and u wan good grades.
its your own fault that u dun do ur tutorials and expect the tutor to lecture you.
for me, i do listen to the lectures from time to time. tutorials i hardly touch. -
why?because a topic can't be taught and gone through in 2 hours la duh?
teach u, must give u time to go back do homework/tutorial right.. teaching and discussing is 2 diff things.. -

there are pros and cons either in attending lecture or studying by myself. i personally feel that self studying is more efficient. -

In the uni, profs conduct the lectures, profs are expensive to hire, and despite most of them pretending to like being asked questions and solving students' problems, they'd all rather do more research, squeeze their own grad students, generate more papers and studies and make a bigger name for themselves ... you won't get tenure being a popular prof with the students, you get tenure by churning out earth shattering studies eh ....
tutorials are usually conducted by grad students, and sometimes, senior year students like moi .... cos they are a lot cheaper and you can squeeze out a lot of work out of them for a pittance ....
for polys and JCs they did it another way ... instead of hiring doctorates they get mostly masters holders .... and squeeze them to do both jobs anyways ... -
