Anyway, communicate is about getting the message across. When communicating with different people, a different standard of the language should be used. No time sticking to 'standard' english when at the end of the day, the message did not get conveyed.

That's the majority. I still don't understand why they go crazy over 5566, KONE and other boybands lah. My younger sister is one of the girls that go crazy over these things. 1. We don't use euu, liaox, harhar, nehxxx, chea etc.
2. We use computers all day.
3. We get good results for exams.

But, people just say that we ARE nerds. 0.o
And recently, a friend of mine used the lingo and when I asked her why, she said, "To fit in with the crowd."
I mean, PFFT. Be yourself! Be a invidualist. Be UNIQUE. Why must we all follow the trend? C'mon. Set an identity for yourself and don't be afraid of it. :] Thats who I am. -

Totally agree with what you're saying. Except for the nerd part. I haven't been termed "nerd" yet. -
I would say all of us are influenced by media in one way or another. I'm not affected by those stupid fashion shows, idol shows and whatever rubbish that is going on. But if you have a passion for something, say photography, whenever a company uses a particular media to advertise or there is a photography competition coming up, you would be attracted by it.
