i would think that monoslayer is right in the self-centred bit...
people look at what they can "get out of a friendship"
like a lot of people look at what they can "get out of a relationship" with their partners...
it doesn't work that way... if one goes into a relationship or friendship looking for advantages, or looking for gains, it is not one in the first place, is it? it's just a sort of business transaction...
it's what we put in to a friendship or what we put into a relationship... without thinking about the "gain" that matters...
in that way, most are doomed to failure if people go in looking for "gain".. -

need time ba... if u did something bad.. ur friend needs time to get over it... u can't expect to be forgiven all at once instantly.... and I guess this part is your 'punishment'

Once Jin Yong(The famous Wu xia novel author) comments about the love life of mordern life and the time of his novel stories.
He explained that the reason why ppl in the ancient time are more loyal and more chance of "love in first sight" is becuase the communication technology is not as good as the mordern time.
In the ancient time, when they meet someone by chance, and has good feeling about him/her, they will choose to be this someone forever.(become lovers, or "jie bai" as brothers/sisters) Becuase once this someone is gone, it's quite impossible to contact him/her again. So they treasure the chance of first meeting. For us who living in the mordern age. It's very easy to contact everyone. You lose a fren, you find a new one easily. You break with your bf/gf, just call her and try to patch back if you want. Or you just go out and find someone else. In the ancient time, the chance the you meet new ppl are more slim than the in mordern time, so they treasure relationship with the ppl they already know. -

it took a visit to sick uncle for one of my KL friend to realised the value of my friendship.
I don't make friends easily nor do I give trust easily. Although I like to have friends but I hate people who use me when they need and dump me when they are done. I've met more of these people locally than people from other countries -
Friendships are fragile nowadays because:
1. Whatever they do for us, we take for granted.
2. You give, he/she take OR He/she give, you take.
3. We always think they are with us forever.
Actually, you musn't have high expectations of your friend. Do you think that if you do something wrong and get accused of it, your friend would butt in and say, "No, its not [yourname]! Its ME!!" and then you end up the hero and everybody starts to diss your best friend.

Well, if you don't treasure your friend well and just scold him/her, beat him/her anyhow, do you expect him/her to be your friend STILL? Haha, of course not.
The best advice I can give is to NOT TAKE YOUR FRIENDS FOR GRANTED.
