is this what one will call King of Rolexes?Originally posted by Gedanken:What about just plain "what the hell were they thinking?!"?
Most times, most people won't even notice my SD. I do like the stealth bling aspect of an SS Rolex.
A JLC Memovox will do nicely, thank you!Originally posted by philia:Unable to keep your attention for long? Oh my, I will never grow tired of those reverberating chimes ... I'm salivating already. Haha
You will be surprised. One of my fellow collectors picked one up for just A$2100 - the seller was a JLC dealer who was given one to commemorate 10 years of dealership. Then again, my friend also managed to score a Milgauss for A$4500! I'm learning from the master now, and we'll possibly be flying up to Sydney in June to attend JLC's watchmaking workshop - he gets invitations regularly and he's trying to reserve a place for me.Originally posted by philia:The JLC Atmos clock is indeed a masterpiece. I won't dare to imagine the price.

Why would they want to? That thing's an abomination!Originally posted by philia:Damn you hit the nail. My parents have been trying to get hold of it in Singapore but to no avail. The States are taking orders on a nett price of 80 000 USD![]()
Nope, one would be too busy throwing up to make comment on it.Originally posted by alexkusu:is this what one will call King of Rolexes?![]()
Hats off to your friend. He is one lucky person. Now I wish I could have friends like that but I don't see may teens into watches.Originally posted by Gedanken:You will be surprised. Montres Rolex SA has 3 brands... Tudor (Tudor) , Rolex , and Rolex Cellini.Originally posted by alexkusu:is this what one will call King of Rolexes?![]()
Honestly, I thought it looks rather intimidating and glamorous at the same time. Perhaps I haven't seen the real thing so I can't really comment on it. But it's worth losing half your balls for.Originally posted by Gedanken:Why would they want to? That thing's an abomination!
I might know a few collectors who could score one stateside, but I'll refuse on principle.
It's not just luck, man - this guy's one helluva sharp shopper! The guy who sold him the Milgauss knew that it was a collector's item, but just wanted to sell it to free up some cash. If he knew that a similar one sold six months later for A$29,500, he'd probably be kicking himself.Originally posted by philia:Hats off to your friend. He is one lucky person. Nope. Uh uh. No no no no no.Originally posted by MrFugue:Rolex itself is for the mid-end range of luxury watches. Rolex Cellini's range has Rolex President itself.
No biggie. I know a couple of collectors in their teens.Originally posted by philia:Yeah. Do I sound old?

Yeah, I know this kid who's busting his chops to save up for his first Sub. How long did it take you to get the FM?Originally posted by philia:Hmm... I'm definitely not a collector. Just an admirerIt's just that I have always been fond of watches. My first love was the Bvlgari Diagono and I saved really hard for it!

First, there is no watch called the Rolex President. There is a bracelet style called President, which was named such because it was fitted on a Day-Date that was presented to Dwight Eisenhower to celebrate his reelection. The Day-Date is part of the Oyster Perpetual line, being set in an Oyster case with a self-winding movement.
The Cellini line is entirely different - the cases are flatter, not hermetically sealed like an Oyster, and contain hand-wound movements.
what's your next target?Originally posted by philia:Hmm... I'm definitely not a collector. Just an admirerIt's just that I have always been fond of watches. My first love was the Bvlgari Diagono and I saved really hard for it!
