I think some ITE grads ( why are they called grads in the first place?) can have better earning power. These group earns the heartlanders money.
Like that property agent who drives a Merc, that car salesman who drives a Lexus, the optical wholesale which drives a BMW . They get their money by the thousands. People just pay them for the paperwork they do. You don't need a degree for these paperwork. Many of them start their own small co. Small as they are, but they still rake in ten of thousands of heartlander's money.
I think the difference for Uni grads and ITE ppl is that, Uni grads can earn a lot when one person pays a lot for his salary whereas ITE ppl can earn a lot when many people pay a little lesser for him. Who knows? ITE grad may even earn more.
When I see the researchers in my school slog and sweat, working for the progress of the society, I somehow felt sorry for them. They are highly qualified Postdoctaral fellows but they earn a meagre sum compared to ITE ppl and most don't even drive.
Perhaps after I grad, I'll enrol part-time to ITE.

Just that Singaporeans tend to look down on ITE girls more, because they tend to look down on those who cannot produce top grades generally. I do not approve of such behaviour. Really see no point in that. Have seen some so-called students from the 'elite' sec schs having only a general degree and earning lower than most people.
1 incident is enough to destroy the reputation of the institution and its members. It is just one passing incident and should not be taken out of context. I believe most people's views are not like that.
Next time tell your sis to ask the guy to look at himself in the mirror first. -

I am a firm believer that one can succeed as long as one is willing to work for success regardless of one's background, education etc. Education is just a tool. Schools should never be used as an indication of status. It does not make you a better person when you are in JC or Poly or ITE. Ultimately, it is your actions throughout your life that you are going to be judged on or going to be mentioned in your eulogy.
There are just some thickheads around here who refuse to believe or can't accept that some people who were once below them in the social strata ladder is now above them. Sometimes, it is just better to ignore them. Your life is much better without them anyway. So, if you were from ITE before and now earning a higher than average income, I salute you and commend you for your efforts and being able to show that being in ITE does not mean an end to dreams of success. Just get on with your normal life and just disregard all those naysayers. They are just sore losers. They have no right to ask for your attention anyway since they refuse to shed age-old social immobility mindsets. -
