..........Originally posted by DailyFreeGames.com:Like I've mentioned, government sector care mainly about paper qualifications. Do you think Bill Gates would have made it big in the government sector in Singapore? Unlikely because he's a university drop out. But do you think Bill Gates is a successful person? You bet! So how could you compare being an MP as being successful and using that to claim that ITE grads cannot be MP and hence assume them as no good? Do you mean that being an MP is the only good thing to do? Become an MP = you are good?!
i am talking about " in general"Originally posted by hisoka:they might. maybe cos they don't want a fast turnover or they believe he is overqualified.
you got hear about pple not reporting about their masters or some other higher qualification when they go apply for jobs??
NUS grads are incomparable to Harvard drop-outs...Originally posted by omnipresent:dont compare Bill Gates with an ITE graduate. Bill Gates a Harvard Dropout. What is a ITE graduate? Why are you bringing an ITE graduate and Bill Gates together? Dont disgrace Bill Gates.
I pretty sure the person who compared Bill Gates/Harvards with Ite students, didnt state that He/she was from ITE.Originally posted by codename4:NUS grads are incomparable to Harvard drop-outs...
Now I am appalled that Singaporean youngsters from ITEs are comparing themselves with Bill gates/harvards etc...
What a shame.
You mentioned Tan Khoon. I bet u are referring to Tan SOO KHOON for goodness sake since u cant even spell his full name properly.Originally posted by angelfairy:actually, i just wanted to refer you to the exampel of mr tan khoon since you wanted an example of a successful ITE graduate, nothing more
Whether you succeed in life depends on your mentality.. If you have such a negative view , no matter how highly educated you are , you will not succeed. Education is just one of the factors for success in life , a huge one maybe but not the only one.Originally posted by codename4:LOWER education in actually fact means LOWER future. That is a fact, please face it.
I dont care if they are from or not from ITE.Originally posted by calerh:I pretty sure the person who compared Bill Gates/Harvards with Ite students, didnt state that He/she was from ITE.
Stop misleading the general forum population with that statement.

He was from NUS and with MBA for goodness sake. Please get your facts right.
If u are armed with just ITE certs, u think u can join PAP as an MP ????? This is Singapore. Wake up first before its too late.
One example is Mr Tan Koon who graduated from ITE with an ITC (now known as the Higher Nitec) in Electronics and then went on to obtain a Diploma in Electronics. After some work experience, he started his first technology company at the age of 27. Within four years, he has ventured into IT, systems integration and trading. Today, at 31, he owns a multi-million dollar business comprising four companies, with a subsidiary in Malaysia.fine its tan koon not tan khoon, typo, so? dont assume im referring to someone else im not. and i think you still fail to understand my point, which is that ITE Poly and JC train different skills and i DID NOT in any way at all compare these three institutions except in the aforementioned manner, so dont warp what im saying
rubbish. many degree holders are suck up but they gets higher pay. dont deceive yourself. this is Singapore.Originally posted by snowbird82:Whether you succeed in life depends on your mentality.. and who is TAN KOON?!??!Originally posted by angelfairy:fine its tan koon not tan khoon, typo, so? dont assume im referring to someone else im not. and i think you still fail to understand my point, which is that ITE Poly and JC train different skills and i DID NOT in any way at all compare these three institutions except in the aforementioned manner, so dont warp what im saying
You like it or not. The Singapore governement has dictated the ranks of the educational system.Originally posted by angelfairy:fine its tan koon not tan khoon, typo, so? dont assume im referring to someone else im not. and i think you still fail to understand my point, which is that ITE Poly and JC train different skills and i DID NOT in any way at all compare these three institutions except in the aforementioned manner, so dont warp what im saying
refer to the website i gave you...and its only cause you wanted an example of an ITE graduate who managed to make it big outside. he went for further studies though, but you didnt make it explicit in our exchange that you wanted only a pure ITE graduateOriginally posted by codename4:and who is TAN KOON?!??!
So now can u name me an ITE grad who has made it into PAP?Originally posted by angelfairy:refer to the website i gave you...and its only cause you wanted an example of an ITE graduate who managed to make it big outside. he went for further studies though, but you didnt make it explicit in our exchange that you wanted only a pure ITE graduate
Well as much as we do not stereotype that all ITE grads will find it difficult to succeed in life , pls do not think the same of degree holders as well. There are black sheeps definitely but there are still nice onees aroundOriginally posted by codename4:rubbish. many degree holders are suck up but they gets higher pay. dont deceive yourself. this is Singapore.
for the 4th and final time, i shall make it clear - i only made a statement, but somehow you twisted it into an argument and imposed onto me a stand i didnt take. the manner of speaking you have been adopting is based on the premise that i am opposing your argument, but in reality i didnt even accept/oppose your arguments. so i do not even see a need to support a stand that i didnt take; its akin to asking me to provide examples for why ITE grads are inferior to JC/poly grads when i clearly didnt take sides at allOriginally posted by codename4:So now can u name me an ITE grad who has made it into PAP?
Hey. I've noticed that u always have a standard answer. Can u change to something new?Originally posted by BillGates:Do you know how to sell spec frames?
Just go China and buy and then sell to shops here!
5k-10k pay a month no prob!!!
Regarding your first question, where is the statistics? where is the proof? Did you really ask and check all the ITE students and honestly know that none can actually migrate overseas because they are not allowed to do so due to their ITE qualifications? Is there a law or rule that says ITE students cannot migrate?Originally posted by codename4:cannot be... how many ITE grads can actually migrate overseas? USA? UK? ZERO. If u gota degree, at least the chance s much higher doesnt it?
and please dont cite Bill gate... he is not even from ITE. I am saying the education of ITE, not the lack of education.
I found this from somewhere... I could even pass you the url but here's a summary... It alone is proof that you have very limited thinking and I suspect even with proof presented in front of you, you will still choose not to believe in it. Fine by all means, but I've just proved that you are someone who don't know what you're talking about, and yet want to be taken as if someone of higher intelligence. Let's just say, sometimes if some people keep their mouths shut, they would have appeared brighter, but alas, some people just can't do simple things.Originally posted by codename4:If ITE grads are so good, u will find them as CEOs or directors etc. Stop defending your alma mater for goodness sake. Everyone knows that in every society, there is bound to be someone who is respected and someone who will be looked down upon.
Roger Lee, a graduate from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE)...
Roger is presently the Managing Director of three high technology companies; namely Innotech Electronics, Flat Transformer Technology and CWS Inc, which are involved in the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of electronic components. Before setting up his own companies, he was working for an MNC in Silicon Valley for 5 years, managing the procurement and supply chain functions.
Originally posted by codename4:Until the time when companies start to dish out $3000 a month rather than $800 a month to ITE grads, ITE grads are and will always be perceived as last-rated. This is a truth and fact.
I wont go into details. I think all of u here will know ITE grads Vs NUS grads who is better.
I guess you're refering to me. I would like to proclaim my innocence. I'm doing my Masters at the moment, hey if you want proof, feel free to ask, we could even meet up and let you touch and have a feel of the paper.Originally posted by calerh:I pretty sure the person who compared Bill Gates/Harvards with Ite students, didnt state that He/she was from ITE.
