Who bear the overall cost of oil increase ?
Those people who use it , must pay for it .
You use gas to cook , you must pay for gas .from PUB
You use gasoline to drive a car , you must pay for gasoline from petrol kiosk .
You can't expect someone else to pay for you when you use , right ? -

taxi is unlike utilities.
if utilities increase everyone lan lan because it is a monopoly and there are no alternative.
but if taxi fare increase we can always opt for other mode of transport.
buy a car or motorcycle, walk, cycle, take mrt or buses. -

Taxi is for special matters , late , rushing for appointment , carry many stuff , carry babies , give birth , sick , A & E .....
If weather is hot , or rain ...... cannot take bus ? Bus no aircon ?
Cannot take MRT , air con not cold ?
Must take taxi ? Then if " must " take a taxi , must learn to understand , must pay when use . If not ready to pay , don't use . -
Peak Hour is the time where many people take taxi , if they don't whack it at that period , then do it when ?
Research and survey had proven , taxis in Singapore cannot meet the overall demand during this period , and due to some customers taking necessary trips by taxi , has caused many complaint that many has problem booking a cab for Airport , and thus late for flight .
This exercise is to deprive a certain % of taxi-goers to opt for alternative transport .
Then come out with more taxis ? U might suggest .....
Answer : It will cause alot of problem after peak hour period , where there is already a low demand for taxis .
The rate that taxi population is concern , it's way too much .
No taxis increase will ever meet the demand on the peak hour period .
