Just resigned

  Hi there,
  
  I have just resigned from gov sector and currently serving of 1mth notice. Quit without a job and still looking for one. My friend advise me to get into another gov sector again while some of my friends said, private sector is better.
  
  Need advices.

  Government sector is always the best. But if your qualifications is low then opt for private ba. If you have high qualifications, civil service will certainly reward you in the future with high pay and perks and rewards...

  Find one you think has good learning value. Getting stable but mundane jobs won't get you far. (You either run out of promotions or energy)

  I was too pressurize on the job and intended to get into private sector which allowed me to learn more. Currently, I am always doing routine works and learning nothing new. I am getting bored.

  Govt sector, cast iron ricebowl leh. But no harm trying out private sector lah. Expand your working life. We average about 40 years of working life. You wouldn't wanna spend all that 40 years in the same job izzit?

  govt sector too much rules and regulations, everyone too garang, system is inflexible plus lots of pressure.

  Govt job is iron rice bowl, if you're ready to earn a fantastic steady income when you're old, govt sector is for you.

  in govt sector...what u learn may not be applicable in the corporate world...like when u are put incharge of some whatever 21 thingy....
  
  is there really value add to ur job experience?
  
  i think the private corporate world has got much more to offer and a steeper learning curve...
  
  after a few years in the private corporate world...if u feel like taking it easy, then consider govt sector..

  Private Sector is better.. more challenging.

  why u resign ? issit becos it is contract job ?
  
  actually govt sector is good if u dun mind alot of redtape
  standard route of advancement
  
  and always toward the Civil Service 21 thingy
  
  Private is competitive ,just one nite of sleep ,tml you would found u are out (
  Company closed down,retrenchment starts)

  Though it's competitive but my supervisor advised me to go into private sector as there won't be so much on red tape.
  
  As for reasons of resignation, it's all due to daily routine work and also the job scope I don't like it. I believe not all gov or private sector are stressful as it's all depend on which places you go into.

  alamak.. i want gov sector job also no chance.. fill up so many applications and none of them response .. gov job gd, higher pay, more bonus.. 5 days week..

  First and foremost your paper qualification BIG or not? If not big no chance wan. even if got chance it is for the junior posts. All the middle mgmt onwards post for those with at least good to excellent education qualifcations

  To me, I think it's the job that matters..
  
  whether there's prospects, whether I like the job, the environment etc.
  
  if u are gg public/govt sector thinking that u can get an iron rice bowl, then i think u have to change ur mindset.
  
  HDB and PSA also retrenched ple wor.
  
  Govt is not always chi xiang.

  Well statutory boards are like the grandson so further away from the father so can retrench. Ministries will be the direct sons so they got much better leeway
