the israelis kinda went hard and all out...
i ask.. would you that your country do that to get you back? or just roll over?
then i ask.. how come the hezbollah, knowing what the israelis would do, insist on throwing stones at a hornets' nest then hiding behind their civilians?
all sides are about as pure as toxic mud.. but i would ask why the hell are maniac organisations who send suicide bombers to target civilians allowed to exist?
i weep for the whole place...
strange isn't it? whenever Israel does something, people would wave the UN resolutions...
however, when UN resolutions like telling the Hezbollah to disarm is mentioned, no one seems to care...
hypocrites on all sides.. especially the arab side... hypocrites for causing the Palestinian problem with their deceit.. hypocrites for causing so much mayhem and refusing to take responsibility for it... hypocrites for saying "peace" while supporting groups which manifesto revolves around "the destruction of Israel"
damn.. why don't they just lock all the goddamned leaders in a steel cage and let them settle it, UFC style? -
suicide bombing is def wrong..but why do they do it in the first place? they must be feeling very frustrated...if ur land is occupied, and no one seems to care, in fact the israelis get all the supports, what wud u do? of coz ppl wud be pissed...no one wanna tackle the root of the problems..putting blind eye to it...

Why didn't you post the picture of them shooting rockets at the Isreali buildings where clivilian are inside? Why only focus on the retaliation of the Isreali? If Singapore where to suffer this we will send our troops. USA suffered the same during 911 and they overturn an entire monarchy in fact 2 why everyone just complain about the Isreali alone? There are always a reason and a cause.

btw, there was once Barak gave EVERYTHING Arafat demanded except total control of Jerusalem back to the Palestinians...
Jerusalem was to be jointly governed...
guess what Arafat did?
he walked out of the talks... went back to his "people" and told them a pack of lies and started the Intifadah..
that's documented.. even by their own PLO...
politically, Palestinians don't exist.. they are a mishmash of all the different riff-raff which the arab states didn't want... they are a political tool of the arabs.. it was stated by PLO in 1976 that Palestine never existed, and if they succeed with the destruction of Israel, they would immediately merge with Jordan..
also, Arafat once tried to murder King Hussein of Jordan... the Jordanians responded by slaughtering about 10,000 Palestinians who were in Jordan and driving out the rest..
you have to look at the corruption that has caused the problems of the Palestinians... the majority of all this misery is caused by themselves.. or Arafat.. Arafat had a vested interest in keeping everyone fighting.. he had the monopoly of ALL trade in "his land" and was taking a percentage of everything.. so when "his people" suffered, he was skimming off everything and letting his own family live a life of luxury in the French Riviera...
to compound it all, there is animosity, there are political games in the region.. the arabs learnt early that nothing unites more than a common enemy.. and conveniently, it's Israel..
there are a million reasons.. and you will see that everyone of them is mired in intrigue and hypocrisy... the hallmarks of politics..
alas.. those who suffer are the ordinary citizenry -

The best chance of peace went up in smoke the moment Yitzak Rabin was assassinated. Period.
That was probably the closest both sides got to something lasting.
Have to wait all over again.
Come to think of it, right now, i do find the Israeli response rather mild...then i read about the ton of foreign nationals being evacuated and the local Lebanese crossing to the northern side of the Litani river. Then i realise why they remain so restrained.
Once most of the civilians have left, HELL will break lose.
Then they may even turn their sights on Damascus. -
After the bulk of civilians have evacuated lebanon, the world map will have be reviewed again, to reflect a missing city.

No culprit. Its ok for terrorists to bomb civillians because they are so poor and oppressed. Its not ok for USA to respond to the bombings. But saying that, I do not agree with shooting rockets into other country's civillian areas. I do not condone kidnappings and hiding amongst civillians when the enemy comes for you. You have to guts to fire rockets into other peoples' market, you should have to guts to fight with their soldiers when the come. Not hide behind pregnant women and little children. -

I think perhaps Israel is being a bit hard handed, but imagine, they depend on their army for survival, their nation is surrounded by enemies. So their army's backbone are the conscripts, just like Singapore's. What would conscripts feel if they knew when they got kidnapped no one would go looking for them? If you were kidnapped and put under threat of death, which would you want? Even if they didn't say "We'll kill your guys if you don't concede to us", I doubt their intention was along the lines of, "Back off Israel, or we'll subject your kidnapped soldiers to a lifelong hell of manicures and spa treatments."
1: A bunch of suits negotiating for your release, making concessions on your behalf and when you go home you found that Sentosa was given to the kidnappers in order for your safe return.
2: SWAT, HRT, Delta, SAS and the like plus our very own SOC blazing in on armed terrorists, not civilians, the very same ones pointing guns at your head, and when they take off that balaclava and look at you to say, "Hey, we're Singaporeans, and we're here to take you home to your family"
Both has its plus points. I'm not in favor of violence, but sometimes I guess a hard strike is needed when soft approaches have been failing. I do agree with you that hiding behind innocent and untrained civilians is very cowardly. -

They have tried a diplomatic solution (although they did not have the patience to see it through).
