they're good to do it until dhoby ghaut to let ppl change to SMRT though it's likely to impact on frequency, cos there are no crossover tracks near dhoby ghaut. the nearest is the overrun tunnel between little india and farrer park.
the same thing happened 2 yrs ago i think. another event was the interruption at punggol. apparently, a faulty 56k modem was the culprit. trains had to turn back at sengkang crossing. -
time to buy teebee card soon....

I didnt know NEL got problem. Drop off 630pm at Outram park interchange then find out about no train to potong pasir.
End up walk to chinatown and wait for 147. Jam a little here and there finally I reach home at 805pm. God bless, I didnt lost my way home.
