Need help with housewarming gift

going for a housewarming soon. need some comments.
the theme of the house is Minimalist with white and silver as primary colors, red and black are secondary colors. House with a 42" Plasma TV that hangs on a wall and a single plank below it to hold a DVD player. there's no cabinets or such in the living room, only a table and sofa.
very clean and simple house. was thinking if i can get a Lava lamp to add to the minimalist element. it will be the Silver Rocket model and red lava. what do you guys think? -
get something much more affordable but yet acts as a decorative item.
a lamp wud be nice. -

okay maybe some background on the owner,
she like things to be VERY VERY clean so much so that it's like an obsession, hence her house. and she also like bright colors. she have this row of Lime green tiles in her kitchen that complement her theme. she wants something to be practical, if it have no use, its junk to her. -
