  send it for laundry services? save the cost of buying the washing machine n water/electricity bills.
  
  some shops do pick up n send back to ur place. very convenient.

  I think main criteria for choosing a washing machine is
  
  1. How many kg u want?
  
  2. Is it those top loading or front loading machine?
  
  3. You wan additional feature like tilted tub inside or can wash better by using some proprietary feature stuff?
  
  I bought my washing machine, frige, TV, DVD Player all from Gain City. But before that I go check out prices at Harvey Norman, Courts etc.. then go Gain City all one shot order so can get a major discount since buy so many. Gain City also provides their own add on warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty. If you got old washing machine, fridge, TV they help to dispose for you free and transport is free too.
  
  So buy a lot can ask a lot of freebies
  
  Btw if buy DVD player bring all your pirated VCD,CD,DVD one each to test on the spot can play or not then buy. Demand such services and if salesman wan earn your commission will do. Some scared kena caught play pirated disc can forget earn money from me as a customer.

  Full load can go for 8.5 kg and above cuz also can throw living room big curtains to wash in one load and not separate loads to save time

  I think Sohguanh had given you some good pointers. If it's just for one person, 5kg is enough for one week's laundry, if you don't have sofa covers or curtains to wash.
  
  For cheaper prices, buy from HDB electrical shops. Go to those big electrical supermart to look at the different models, but avoid buying from them to save money....(edit: unless they have special promotion).
