Anti-Bicycle...?

What wrong with these people? I was cycling on the side walk (on my way home) and with a normal cruising speed when I saw this guy with his wife and kid 50m ahead of me... They were blocking the whole side walk so I rang my bell at about 25m behind them... As I passed them, the guy gave me attitude and told me to ride on the road... What did I do? I gave them early warning, its not like I rang my bell right behind them and I wasn't riding at a dangerous fast speed... So why the attitude? Is there some kind of bicycle haters movement I don't know about?
BTW... This usually happens to me at Jurong West area 3-4 times this year... -
Singapore difficult to find a place to ride
- Ride on road, drivers horn, accident happens
- Ride on path, People show attitude and dont give way
- Ride in designated trails,hikers block way
Where to ride ?
Ride on trainer.

You should look at those pedestrians at Bukit Batok in and around Little Guilin there. The town council or whatever gahmen bodies was kind enough to build bicycle tracks for cyclists next to all the pedestrian pavements.
This way, the cyclists can cycle safely without being hit by cars and pedestrians can walk without blocking the cyclists.
But hor.... ALL the pedestrians, residents there, they will prefer to walk on bicycle tracks, cuz the bicycle tracks are newer, nicer to walk. In the end, I only see bicycle on the main road, with all the other vehicles. So it's back to square one.
If the guy give you an attitude, give him back lor. No salah one what. -

Woohoo. The trend is already starting. From maids to foreign workersto students, you can see all of them riding their bicycles everywhere.
Soon this will become a nation of bicycle riders and the government will tap into this lucrative source of revenue by ensuring people need a license to ride a bicycle.
Who knows, ERP gantries might be set up and all cyclists will need to pay to ride from point A to point B.

actually when I ride on pedestrian sidewalk... try to follow pedestrian rule loh. Either cycle slowly until behind them then say excuse me.... then cycle past or wait loh.

I cycles very often. Used to cycle on pathments but now cycles on road with proper head lights and tail lights.
Though it's not illegal to cycle on pathment, I just cannot understand why pesdestrian cannot give way even when I ring the bell say 30m - 50m away.
As like someone have mentioned about licence, it was required in the earlier days in Singapore. In fact, I hope it will be brough back with demerit points system so that there won't be irreponsible cyclist on the road. -
Do u knw that cyclist are suppose to cycle on the road by law nowadays if u have the ability to cycle 60km/hr which most ppl above 15 do though i believe at most they last for 5 min at that speed. As i am a cyclist too i understand the problem with ppl walking on cyclist lane in the park. Usually i just ring once and if they dont move i shout excuse me and if it dont work i just cycle behind them and ring my bell like crazy. Usually i dont look back after i cycle past pedestrain.

i dun like cyclists on sidewalk oso. go to the road! pavement for walking!
sometimes kana rammed, den act like my bloody fault like dat. i one person walk by the side oso can ram into me! idiot.
got once, i was listening to music walk alone, with ample space by my side, den almost ram, the person actually stopped in front to scold me!

pedestrian path is meant for pedestrain, not cyclist. i have taken a bicyclist to a police station after he nearly missed hitting me on the path one night at toa payoh. the police warned him not to cycle on the pavement and i decide not to press charges too. he was lucky, i would have smacked him if he hit my family.

one thing i cant stand is why must cyclists keep cycling along pesdestians walking. what happen when pesdestians fell into the drain for giving ways to cyclists?
i feel cyclists should be the one being considerate by stopping and walk alongside wif their bicycle if they encounter pesdestians, then continue to cycle if there is not obstraction.
most cyclists are behaving like they are pro n they own the pesdestian path, forgeting the road are meant for them, not the pesdestian path! that's the reason why no one will like to give way to cyclists. -

I wun give a hoot where I cycle. Be it road or pavement. BUT if there are pedestrains there, I give way or side track so as to give them no excuse to complain. Even if they complain or give attitude, I tink I long gone liao.

Sometimes no grass to patch... so have to slow down den stop to let walkers walk past OR if they walking infront of you, you juz "excuse me" and smile. They will find it hard to give you attitude at first if you SMILE.
