The ugly behaviour of S'porean

I was working for a Telco anniversary show last weekend and halfway thru, i was asked to walk around to hand out small packets of choco to customers. When the staff who first passed the carrier of choco, she told me to hold on tight as many would rush & grabbed for the choco... Then, i was thinkin " It's only a packet of choco, who woluld bother to snatch for them?"
Gosh, how wrong was i.... like 10 minutes into giving out the freebies, my colleague and I were swarmed by this crowd of waving hands & anxious faces.
And there was this freakin ugly woman who actually shoved the two little kids in front of her, murmuring "Take already dun know how to leave..block the way" And she was with her son... what kinda of example is she setting?! And of course there were those cheapskates who queued up twice to get more.
And what's more, the choco were mainly meant for the little kids, but we got swarmed by these impatient adults, mainly the aunties & some middle aged men.
Haha, guess this is not exactly an appropriate day to post such a thread about Singaporean, but i was rely disgusted by the behaviour of some of these cheapskates.
But of course by and large, most of the customers were nice & civilized s'poreans.... and lastly, use this thread to wish Singapore Happy Birthday.. -

Cheapskates are all over the world. Maybe it's just that Singaporeans have a more blatant way of expressing that trait.

I think singaporean r moving in a fast pace. They fear being lag behind ppl.
Parents send their kids attend all sorta class - piano, mental calculas,etc...
fearing their children become inferior to others.
The mentioned incident occurs daily everywhere. from boarding of bus/MRT to giving of free gifts. We cannot blame any1, except the effect of Singapore having a higher standard of living than our parents' generation -

It's largely the adults/parents who are the ones who started the "ugliness" and passed it on to their children to follow.
But it can also because our gov has all these while been telling us that there are No Free Lunches, and that we should take care of our own needs, no one is going to help you, no welfare, no subsidies, so grab whatever you can!

I think many foreigner will say one thing about Sporean kiasu n some will say implement fortuantely got NS to teach local manner.

Typical low-class Singaporeans with the kiasu syndrome and mentality. These are the kind of people who disgrace the rest of Singapore. Did they receive any education at all?
