  range and control of voice, no one in the popular music industry came close to Cyndi Lauper... seriously...
  
  Carey just screamed through most of her "songs" and running the whole range without much control of it.. so there was no emotion, the songs did not capture the imagination of the audience, and were mostly fake... the songs didn't move people..
  
  sort of like Michael Bolton's songs... full of false angst..
