Acuvue contact lenses make my eyes very dry

Some years ago, when I first switched to disposable lense, I used Baush and Lomb at first. No problem at all. But along the way, I run out of lenses and needed to restock. I got persuaded into using Acuvue, saying that it has higher water content lah blah blah blah... somemore still gave me a pair of colour lense free.
Used for a while, realised that my eyes got very dry. At first I thought it's problem with my eyes. But when I checked with friends, they also experienced the same thing with Acuvue. They said that the higher water content in the contact lense, the dryer your eyes will feel. Can't remember how they explain the reason.
Some time later, I decided to switch to fortnightly disposable and then daily disposable. Again, some opticians recommended Acuvue. I told them my bad experience with Acuvue product last time. They said now improved liao. So I bought. Voila! Again! My eyes became very dry.
Last year, I switched back to monthly disposable, cuz it's cheaper. Every time I restock, any optician will recommend Acuvue. The brand that I want they usually say no stock, have to order. Then this year, cuz I got no time to buy contact lense, I only went to buy after I totally run out of contact lenses. Again, the optician say no stock, have to order. I was desperate and they claimed they only have Acuvue in stock. Once again, they claimed this is a new improved range, won't dry my eyes one. I refused to take Acuvue. The optician was so eager to make me take Acuvue (all opticians do that btw) that he offered to give me one free pair for trial when I pay for three months supply. If the trial pair are unsuitable, I could return the unopened packs which I paid for to exchange.
And true enough, again my eyes suffered the extreme dryness. I only used the trial pair for two weeks (when it is supposed to last for 1 month) and returned the unopened pack to the optician to exchange for Biomedics. The optician was kinda relunctant and refused to believe that what Acuvue has done to my eyes. She blamed it on the duration I put on the lense. I told her I had no problem with other brands. But every time it comes to Acuvue, my eyes sure have problems. She and another optician from the same shop claimed that all their customers are happy with Acuvue and I told them that all my friends claimed otherwise.
In the end, they still honour their promise to let me exchange. But the damage has been done. And till today my eyes are still feeling very dry every day, every minute, even if I stop wearing contact lenses and wear glasses instead for days. This happens all the time when I use Acuvue and the last two times took me many months to recover. Nowadays I have to put eye drop dunno how many times a day, when I hardly use eye drops with other brands.
I really wonder why ALL the optical shops out there highly recommend Acuvue until like that. They will claim this claim that and some try not to give you other brands.
Is there any other way to cure the dry eyes (any kind of vitamins that I can take )?
Anybody out there experience same thing with Acuvue? -

i used Acuvue for a while.
don't quite like it but i 4got wats the reason
have been loyal to Biomedic.
very good for long hours wear
for re-wetting, blink is good.......
but im using roto-C -
B & L for me...so far so good.

But didn't help. Was already using CIBA when using Biomedics earlier on. -

true acuve makes ur eyes dry
but try using eye drops on em and try to avoid places which are too air conditioned,it makes ur eyes even drier -
I have only tried B & L and I've stuck with it for more then 5 years now. I use the Bi-Weekly one except that I only change them once in a month! They are that good! I can continue for more then that actually but I change them because I don't wanna take risk.
Never really tried anything else because the need didn't rise. But I agree with HoneyBunz regarding the opticians trying to "coax" u into buying Acuvue. I wonder what kinda commission they are getting
I once used my contact lense continuously for 3D2N! At chalet.. Never remove.. Never put drops too =) I totally forgot about them -_-

Saving money for that since dunno when .... save save save... and then accidentally spend it all. Now have to start saving again. Hope to tiu tiu tiu my eyes in Jan or Feb 07. As for me, I whole time feel as if wind is blowing at my eyes kind of dryness. Very painfu. -
