  Oh haha the teacher must be suffering from PMS! Normally most teachers will make the student stand for the whole lesson only. Erm ... I doubt the other teachers will continue to let the student stand since the student have already been punished and they want the student to concentrate on their lesson too.

  Jiani is a girl? Erm... usually girls are punished to stand for talking too much. Haha another possibility is that the same teacher is teaching 2 or 3 other subjects (e.g. English, Maths, Science).

  it could have been alot worse...imagine the teacher drew a small circle a few feet away from the wall at the back of the classroom and make jiani stand inside the circle for 5hrs...i tink jiani's legs would be so painful and tired tat she would not be able to walk after tat...

  Draw circle is cute but troublesome. If I were the teacher, I'll ask Jiani to stand on chair at the back of classroom which is more effective and will achieve the same purpose as the circle. Haha

  i would opt for the safer approach of standing in circle...standing on chair as i mentioned b4 can be dangerous as the student may fall off and hurt themselves...

   

  anyway, i dun tink anyone can tolerate standing inside a circle for 5hrs...the longest i ever heard of was 2hrs which my chinese tutor did to her students on a few occasions which is still 3hrs lesser...

  and teacher want it make it harsh i will never sleep in class again, and bring my textbook everyday

  Erm ... perhaps can stand on phonebook instead. Should shade the area around the phonebook so that if she steps out, will leave foot print on the chalk powder. Good idea right?

  Oh haha girls like to give excuse. If asked to stand on chair, they say they wear skirt. If teacher make them stand too long, they will say they are having period.

  Handle the problem child the best you can; within your limits.

  if that doesn't work, then hand the problem over to your level head, dean, HoD... whatever. That's part of the reason they're paid more than you.

  there seems to be an unspoken rule tat when a student is sent out of the classroom, he/she is expected to stand unless otherwise mentioned by the teacher...teacher dun say anything means stand...

  In my sec sch,the teachers usually don't ask the student to stand outside classroom. Instead, they would ask the student to stand under a palm tree in the garden surrounded by classrooms. The palm tree itself is surrounded by pebbles and the student will stand on the pebbles which is very cute!
