DIdn't you hear the Minister say its because that Singaporean girls unwilling to give birth that's why we need more people import for the deficit workforce!? If but its really a great place for woman to be in coz in places like Japan, the force the woman to give birth. I remember last time they actually ban the sales of condom. I guess Singaporean girls want to be like man don't give birth... plus don't want NS... hmmm... 10 months Pregnant worse than 2 years NS meh!?

Never thought about it before, but what you're saying does make sense. But I think it's wrong to blame the women only. I feel it's generally the change in mindset of individuals towards family and raising children as compared to Singaporeans in the past. A lot more emphasis on self and life as a singlehood as compared to the emphasis on family. -
Soon we will be like Shanghai... Out of the 20millions, only a small percentage are true Shanghainese. But then again it will be a very unique part of our country as from our history we are a cross cultured society. Singapore gonna be a metropolitan city. With people from all over the world. It's not true. govt is using it as an excuse to import forigners because govt believe they will make money for us (?)
countries like japan, sweden their population ageing faster than us, we don't see them hiring foreigners, especially japan, they don't like outsiders... but their economy and everything also doing very well. -

If U grad from a Jap Uni.. U still can find a job.. I have Malaysian, Shanghainese, Taiwanese graduated from Japan and found job there.. a few even get their PR there..
Their Econ is doing well, as they buy in Dollar.. so Yen is weak.. in that case profits!
Sweden? oh.. man.. they are opening up also.. had PRC going there to study Masters (Free Education by the way) and b4 going there also got her PR! -

Anyway IMO foriegn talents are the value added points for investing company to come here. It doesn't satisfy ALL people In a country but at least it does benefit MOST people in terms of prospect and job. Furthermore its about 20-25% of workforce are foriegn talents. With a large number are doing some jobs which we don't want to. Like for example Changi airport...

cant even feed the adult full ... needless to say have more mouth to feed ..
all blame the govtment ... they want to import foreign talent but dont want to make it more obvious ... so push the blame and increase all the expenses ... -

Nobody wants to have kids nowadays knowing that the standard of living is so high.
Somebody ever told me to support a kid from baby until the age of 5 need at least 20k or more. This amount includes medical, diapers, food, clothings , baby powder, etc etc.
With this kind of money needed would u think any1 will ever consider on giving birth unless they are filthy rich.
Gahment might have started something as to pay families who have given birth and the amount depends on how many kids u give birth to. The amount might have looked nice to u but pls bear in mind. In order to get the specific amount, u must have successfully raise ur kid up to 5 yrs old then u are entitled to that sum of money.
Putting the blame on women are simply actions of irresponsibilities and cowardice. Knowing its their fault yet dares not admit and pushes blame to others. -

and companies are not happy with pregnant ladies or mothers bcos always have to take leave to take care of kids.... -

If the govt don't impose this impose that, Raising 5 kids is no problem but I'll probably just have 1 or 2 at most so that my family don't run up 500k for no reason and then 1 or 2 kids die of hunger or malnutrition etc then social worker come take my kids away and wife divorce me and I go rob a bank get caught and trialed for 10 years imprisonment and come out with no money no nothing then probably get run down a car but survive then chalk up 500k hospital bill which would shock me to death then no coffin or funeral for me so my body just chopped up or used for some weird medical study and my bones for a skeleton body and then my organs used for someone without it and then more ghost movies get inspired from it
