I care.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:It's against martial arts ethics to strike vital points. It may be the best, but moral values wise, it could well be the first from the bottom.

The reason why u feel nothing of it is because of the refinement your coach did to the art or yr coach's coach. Now muay thai has become effective muay thai. All the things u learn is the most effective part of muay thai almost all the katas is filtered out due to the nature of quick training for competition.
i would consider muay thai a sport, no so an art, its not like karate, which have spiritual elements to better yourself.
muay thai is for hurting/killing, plain and simple.
it dont claim to be anything else.
i personally really dont care about the "Art" part or the philosophical nonsense...
i learn to defend my loved ones, i learn to protect myself, i learn so that i know how to kill, if i have to.
thats why i chose muay thai, i have become a very confident man because of that, i have knocked out a few people... and i have nothing to prove..
but i have been knocked out before too, many times and bloodied nose
but what ever you choose, be sure to enjoy it[/b]
well u just have to face the consequence of yr action. in singapore court self defence might not be a good enough excuse for killingOriginally posted by Allen.Iverson:one important reason for people to learn martial arts is for self defense. I dont actually see whats wrong in striking vital areas when one is in danger... maybe not during sparring or tournaments... but if you cant defend yourself in different environment and situations whereby your attackers are trying to KILL you..then if u learn some martial arts that isint deadly, then i dont see the point in learning it at all... =D
just my point of view. i do karate and a huge portion of it involves striking at vital parts as well, but we dont use such stuff in tournaments...
REAL fights without rules, are no holds barred, vale-tudo.Originally posted by markzz:......which martial art is most useful in real life situations?
Jeet Kun Do = Bruce Lee's style of Martial Arts...all redundant movements are removed to make this style efficient and fast to execute.
Muay Thai= Focus on energy strikes with the bony parts of the body to execute as much pain and damage on the oponent as possible.
Ninjitsu= The Ninja's martial arts. Focus on taking down an opponent as quickly as possible by attacking all the weak spots simultaneously.
which style do u think is best in a REAL fight without rules?![]()
