The CAR that knocked into the DOG on the road! GRRR.

Yesterday evening along Joo Chiat Road at 5.45pm, I witnessed a car - I think it was a Peugeot, the car plate number is SG*810*T - knocking into a stray dog.
The car was turning out from the car park and the dog was directly in its line of vision, directly in front of it. Yet the car showed no sign of stopping even though it was going at a slow speed. It did not even bother to horn to warn the dog out of its way! And it just knocked into the dog just like that!
Luckily the dog was not knocked down and was not visibly injured and ran away quickly after letting out a loud yelp.
Please! If you know the car owner, educate him about our community animal friends on the road! If his defence was that he did not see the dog, then maybe he should review his own alertness on the road for it may well be a kid that was running across! Furthermore if he was turning out from a road, he should be more careful of people and animals or even things on the road he was turning into, shouldn't he?!
And if he had deliberately knocked into the dog just because he thought it was only a stray dog, then may misfortune befall him. -

Because I spotted the dog crossing the road way before the car hit it, I remember clearly it was already in the middle of the road for some time before the car reached it. So turning out from the smaller road, he should have seen the moving dog in the middle of the road no?

you are so right...it would have been better to slam on the brakes in the middle of the road possibly causing an accident with humans...at least they wouldn't have hit a dog.
don't they have some sort of animal control/humane society (dog catchers) in Singapore? why not blame them for doing a poor job. -
lemme share an exp with u guys. last fri i went out with a few friends. one of my fren driving. he knn siao one. always like to race on the road. i swear never to sit in his car again.
cb he don't give a damn about other ppl's lives on the road, not even his passengers. one time he was trying to show off how skillful his initial d. the road so narrow, two way sommore... the most can only fit 3 cars mirrors touching mirrrors. den he was driving at like 110-130. so many motocycles on the road he just zoom past them! at blind corners sommore! his turning all got tyre screeching sound one and i can feel the back sway out... so you can imagine how near his car was out of traction! never mind, he took the opp lane sia! and u know wat he said? "if those motorcycles kana hit they suay lor..." wtf???!!! i heard liao i so damn angry sia, but i keep my cool, don't want to get into a quarrel.
then on the highway he still want to race with other ppl again. wl he just anyhow filter thru the heavy traffic. sommore scream "woo hooo!!!" i'm convinced this guy is mad. man i hope he just crash and die one day and stop endangering other ppl and his friends' lives.

The car was in a road where there were no other cars behind. It was just a small road leading out from a carpark. And he was moving at such a slow speed that braking would have hardly caused any accident.
While I do agree it's senseless to brake to spare the life of an animal and in turn cause other kinds of traffic accidents, depending on situation motorists (bikers and car drivers all alike) should make a good effort to see what is the best way they can avoid collision with the animal on the road while preserving traffic safety. After all, it's a LIFE and not just a road obstruction.
Dogs and cats are animals, but human beings are animals too. Community animals share the space we live on. Just because we're more intelligent and have made the Earth habitable for humans doesn't mean we own entirely the rights to the lands originally for all animals to roam on. They have as much right as us to use the lands. And us, being more intelligent beings who are able to think, react and respond rationally have the responsibility to watch over those who're unable to do so, like how a perfectly healthy human being would take care of a crippled man.
The responsibility of taking care of the community animals should fall on the community of human beings, ALL of us and not just those in societies that protect the rights of animals or those that take care of strays. When a only limited number of people undertake communityanimal-care and support animal causes, those who are adversely affected by community animals should do something positive about it instead of questioning what the societies have not done, or even not been able to do due to limited resources. -

Out of curiousity, did the dog dash across the road suddenly, and only when the car was turning out? anyway, whatever it is, the guy did wrong to hit the dog... he should be aware of things around him at all times when he's driving...
if he didn't see the dog, he's not paying attention..
