  $4.2m for President's Star Charity show
  
  SINGAPORE : A total of $4.23 million was collected by the President's Star Charity show on Sunday night, surpassing its $4 million target and the $3.75 million in donations reaped in last year's show.
  
  Organised by MediaCorp as part of the President's Challenge and broadcast live on Channel 5, the two-and-a-half-hour show featured performances by Hong Kong singing veteran Jenny Tseng, home-grown music sensation Stefanie Sun and actors Tay Ping Hui and Pierre Png, among others.
  
  Comedians Gurmit Singh, Irene Ang and Patricia Mok delivered laughs in a skit commemorating a decade of Singapore sitcoms, beginning with the debut of Under One Roof in 1995. President S R Nathan, who launched the annual President's Challenge in 2000, was the night's guest-of-honour.
  
  The funds will go to 49 charities, including the Moral Home for the Disabled, the Breast Cancer Foundation and the Yellow Ribbon Fund.
  
  Donation hotlines are open until Saturday. Call 1900 112 8821 to make a $5 donation, 1900 112 8822 for $20 and 1900 112 8823 for $50. -
