Did they promise you anything? If they did, get those lah. I don't think there's anyway to get your money back because you signed an agreement with them right?

The system works where by i compiled a port folio of myself. Whenever any company needs any models for their ads, magazine shots, TV commercials. They will went throught all the models port folios and choose. 1 Free lance proj is $100 to $1000.
All my friends say i shld not believe them...
Had i been conned?
Mr X we admire your writing ability etc etc etc. If you kindly advance us $XXX to cover costs, we would be willing to publish and help distribute your books... -

you might have been conned. probably they will call you and ask you to top up cash to make your portfolio 'better circulated'
on the other hand they can be a really fledgling, dishonest modelling agency. they try to cut cost and make you pay then sell your pics to advertisers. before you know it you will be 'The face of Man' in unknown magazines and the agency claim ignorance.
can't get your money back lah it seems. no contract also right? -

Oh BTW i did signed smthing, only ONCE!!! U noe when u pay using nets? not master. They got this receipt tingy, company style receipt. I signed twice. One copy i keep one copy they keep.

when and if you go down, b4 you take photos make sure you ask for the terms of use of your photos and information and if possible make them sign. best is drag some one along.
it might not be a con. as soem one noted its stadrad practise to have to pay. but then again chances of getting jobs is very low most likely you are jsut gonna get "conned" out of your .45k -
