maybe that day was a bad day for u and the cashier. izit u got show some attitude thats why kana treated like that?? i believe now in spore, very unlikely to be treated unfairly base on dressing, but more on attitude.

i hate it if i have to push a product, and its worse when i have to push it to someone who don't want it. and from experience , its usually people who talk a lot and ask a lot of questions that don't buy. people who need something or are really interested would only ask questions about the product they're buying or at least relevant ones like what else can match up to what they are going to buy.
hate those that come in to browse, have to serve 1-2 hours ask all sorts of irrelevant questions and end up with a "i'll consider first" -
With this kinda services how are we consider world class?

but i would like to question u then what are u paid for?
to serve only potential buyers?
sad to say,u are there to serve both -
every person who walks in is a potential buyer.
but from the perspective of the sales person, sometimes he/she is having a bad day so might give customers some attitude. sometimes i'm just glad someone walks into the store. gives me someone to talk to, especially if you're the only one in the store. gets pretty boring sometimes.
when i have a bad day, i dun say much to the customer. just smile a bit and hope the customer either buys, or goes away. on better days though, i'm more than happy to tell customers more about the product. share abit of my experience and hopefully so does the customer.
that's why the service line is not for everyone. you've got to be more than willing to "Go the Extra Mile" for the customer. Smile always. Sincerely, hopefully. Perhaps Singaporeans are not cut out to be in the service line cuz we're not the kind of yes-man people. We're either aggressive in pushing products (kiasu) or too lazy to serve anyone who walks in (bo chap).. -

Hmm i'm kinda in service line too but hmm no comment from my line.
juz a comment from when i went overseas though.. compared to singapore, i dont think its a training thing or anything? its more of a personality? like how in japan if u asked someone on the street for directions they would treat u almost the same way as how the sales people in japanese shops in japan treat u.. and if they can't speak english and cant seem to communicate when u ask for directions they apologise PROFUSELY until we felt so guilty and feel so bad =/
so in singapore.. the salespeople are juz like the other citizens of singapore on the street. if u ask someone for directions he might just point and not even open his mouth or react. -

if you show them your cards and piles of cash in your fat wallet, confirm they treat you like a king.
but then if you are yandao kia, i think all female staff will flock to you even if you are wearing bermudas and t-shirt.

Ehh actually I remember something now.
When I was just about to enter high school......I went to the principal office together with my mother, for some application / registration thing. Don't really remember.
I was wearing shorts. If I remember, I must have been wearing the junior high shorts.
Then......sheet, the principal scolded me.....he said I'm impolite and disrespectful to show up with a short like that. I should be wearing at least long pants.
Sheet......he seemed so disturbed and angry about it, and even chased me out. Told me to go out, go home.
My mother had to try to calm him down....saying sorry I was hurried because we were afraid we would be late. Which wasn't the case, just made up.
Ya I remember now.
Also I remember another incident....
I was walking together with my friend in shorts/ bermudas......and passed an old lecturer in the middle of the night, inside the campus area. He gave me a funny look, I dont know how to describe, I think he looked at me with contempt and disgust. WTF man.
Ahhh.....those were the days....but nowadays no more problem....because I bloom into a Shuai Ge.
