has the purchase of Shin Corp went through already ? (i.e. money changed hands) - if the military govt decides that the deal is not lawful & revoke it, then its really money down the drain. So what happens then ? Temasek Holdings got receipt or not ? Can use receipt to claim later.
Maybe they will raise the CPF withdrawal age at 65 ? Or increase the minium sum ? Increase GST to 10% to make up ?
I hope the government make a statement soon on the status of Shin Corp. But if I am not wrong, they also don't know how this new government will react.

Well we can't admit that we hadn't expected it coming. But to stage the coup just when Thaksin was going to give a speech at the UN General Assembly was kind of a poeitc thing... the irony of it all...
But there has been growing unrest when Thaksin was announced as the interim prime minister.... can't blame the military for wanting to oust him... -

Thai finance minister says no longer in job
SINGAPORE - Thanong Bidaya, who served as Thailand's finance minister under the government of Thaksin Shinawatra, said on Wednesday he was no longer in the job after Thai armed forces seized power.
'I'm sorry I'm not in a position to say anything. I am not minister any more,' he told reporters.
'I have no more responsibilities,' he said, adding he was trying to arrange a flight back to Thailand after attending International Monetary Fund meetings in Singapore.
He said he had not been in contact with Mr Thaksin and he did not know his whereabouts. A senior Thai official said on Tuesday that Mr Thaksin was due to leave New York later in the day for an undisclosed location. -- REUTERS -

I think the anger is more than evading taxes. There is also the issue of nationalism - i.e. selling a strategic interest to a foreign country, which some find it unthinkable. Even in Singapore, we have laws to protect & ensure that no one single individual (be it local or foreign) own more than certain % of companies deemed strategically important (eg: Singtel, DBS, SPH, not sure if SIA also included). Interestingly, the Thai King has chose to remain silent, perhaps to come out at an opt time to call off the coup & pardon Thaksin so that he can balek kampong haha.

Just heard this rumour from a friend in Thailand....
Seems that some people there think that Thaksin's wife and some ex-ministers left for Singapore last night. And Thaksin may next fly from London to Singapore. Maybe he wants to sell the rest of his Shin Corp shares lah. haha.
If true, maybe really can find him at Beach road liow. Heeheee....can make friends with him, bring him to Zouk on retro night (they still got or not ah?). -

The restive south should be resolved by asking the rebels to sit down for negotiations and grant self-rule to them
I feel the Thai Society is not accepting the Malayan Muslim (Southern thai )

If Bangkok really open up the dialogue ,the restive south will end their struggle and it is not the US business to deal with terrorism
