what i encountered on the bus today

was taking a bus from katong to orchard this morning. there is this pregnant lady that's around 4-5 mths pregnant and boarded the same bus as me.
the bus was as usual crowded and we have to stand near entrance. the bad thing is, nobody seems to notice abt the pregnant lady. nobody gave her a seat. at the next stop, a guy sitting jus beside this pregnant lady alighted. and amazingly, a young, probably 20 something, abled body guy snatch her seat. and this pregnant lady was quite shock herself. i dont thk anybody notice what happened except the few of us around.
and the poor pregnant lady had to wait about 10 mins later, and several kilometres away before a 50 something year old auntie gave her a seat.
i wonder what had singaporeans becoming to? so much for the 4mil smiles, but a simple courtesy is forgotten. i wished the imf people saw this and how ungraceful we are. -

aiyah even in MRT also like that. There's guys (mostly middle age (local 100%) uncle) who'll quickly snatch the seat with us ladies standing in front of the seat. Come on, where has the gentlemen gone to?

a few days back, i saw a young couple giving up their seats to a married couple carrying a baby, though they seem perfectly at ease standing (the baby was sleeping inside one of those sling the dad's wearing).
i wonder what singaporeans are becoming? thank god for the 4 millipn smiles, it is gratifying to know that courtesy still exists. i wish the people of sgF saw this and realize there are 2 sides to the coin. 'gracious' singaporeans exist, and are plentiful.

Besides...
1. Some people want to... but are too shy to give up their seat. ( You people won't understand the psychology of such people, the feeling isn't good at all, you want to help, but you just can't bring yourself to do it because of your shyness, or in Singaporean terms "Paiseh" )
2. The person might not have noticed or realized that it was a pregnant woman. I mean, ya, you see a pregnant woman, do you have the mindset to immediately "Oh! I have to let her have my seat!" No, some people don't think of that, that fast...
