Racism ie everywhere...... been to aust and NZ. NZ people more friendly . Got the usual "u look like a thief'" stare when going into a shop...... the aust were looking at me and my friend like we were crooks.
Same everywhere u go. there are good ppl and there are A** of a ppl

Just this afternoon, I nicked outside a shopping arcade for a smoke while I was waiting for my takeaway, and I struck up a nice conversation with an old bloke who'd quit BP to become an artist.
I'd disagree with the "How are you" thing. Many a time I've said, "Good, thanks - and you?" and ended up chatting for the next half hour or so.
The closest I've ever been to such a situation is when a young lass came up to me and said, "Ni hao ma?". I replied, "Yeah, I'm all right - how ya goin'?". She looked puzzled and walked away. Go figure.
Usually goes like this....
"How ya going?" or "G'day"
Standard reply: "Good thanks, yourself?"
It's in their culture. And for us, they do appear friendly. But who knows deep down what they think of us??? -

Let's face it - is it going to make any difference to you if the guy thinks you're a prince or a wanker? You have a chat and a chuckle, and after that you're on your merry way. If you meet the same person again, and have another good chat, well and good. If you don't, big deal.
If you're going to get yourself into knots worrying about what each person thinks of you, it's just taking time away from better things to do with your life, isn't it? -

actually singaporeans are shy people, we are not open in public, and we conceal our feelings. but online, in forums, or in private, we are really cheerful, fun-loving people who like to joke and make fun of everything around us

You can't change parentage, but you can make sure you don't commit that same mistake with your kids.
When you have sufficiently travelled around, you will see that our behavior is quite common to societies who have gained wealth overnight. The curse of the noveau riche if you wanna call it that. -
