$40/- 8hrs Overnite pay for stock Taking.

Theres a hypermart in SG (Start wit G) that is hiring people to do stock taking from 10pm-7am for a day. Their pay is only $40 to $45. If im not wrong, if work overtime should be 1.5X or after 12am is 3X?
When i called and ask about the pay, the rude guy over the phone told me off by saying, "Dont tell us what to do. Theres other people out there who wants the job. Take it or leave it".
People, what have you gotta say about this? -

That's Singapore for u. Crap pay, management sucks, always kena threaten with "if u dun like it go lah, i can always higher someone who's willing to work harder and accept lower pay."

Well there are other jobs that require bending over but pay way much more.
You just need to be more resourceful in looking for them.

how is it even possible to do stock counting in a warehouse in the middle of the night?? with the added amount of eerieness in the night doing things...$40-$45 seems a little consolation.. -

Actually, people who really need the $ will surely do it. Anway, this type of company, we can see how heartless they are. Most people slping at home, those ppl work overnite to count goods and the company pay them peanuts.

so to those new hires, it's not considered overtime pay leh.

if they hire u to work from 10pm to 7am its consider as night shift not OT
OT is when u continue to work after 7am

Back in school days, i did night shift for a hamper company, $8/Hr, 9pm - 6pm...
$40 is too little for a night job, I think... -
Yea. I think the pay is too ridiculous. Night Shift only little more then 4.50 , when people give up nite for work.

Cold Storage is under Dairy Farm International. But actually frankly speaking, supermarket and hypermarket's pay around the same for other supermarket retailers and etc. I think retail assistant or cashier in cold storage has the highest pay among the supermarket retailers.Originally posted by dork3d:Report this unfair practice to MOM lah... this is so called adhoc work, so they won't consider any OT or whatever, just pay the workers lump sum S$40-45 for that night. I don't think this is bound by MoM employment act, more over you need to work over certain hours to be protected by MoM employment law. Just my comments, maybe i am wrong.
The "G" guy is right, many ppl are waiting for that....don;t ask for meals, break...too, -
I think part-timers cannot exceed more than 39 hours per week if didn't remember wrongly. Off day come back work x2 per hour rate if didn't remember wrongly. Normal OT is x1.5 rate I think. Long time never touch on HR issue liao.
For retailer's staff, paid OT will only be valid upon the request and approval of Supervisors or Managers, and will be updated into the TMS manually. But normally paid OT not so easy to get de. Cause some superiors know some staffs are purposely doing things slowly in order to get paid OT. And got many superiors recommend their staff to take replacement off days for the extra hours they're asked to do.
I believe there's nothing wrong with your mentioned Hypermarket giving $40 for 8 hours. Cause it's only a temporarily 8 hours' job for once.
But how come the stock take lack of people? Thought most retailers' stock takes got the Vendors / Suppliers' Reps and Merchandisers or Promoters etc to help count the stocks in their outlets' sales floor as well? -

U can punish them.
If you never sign any black and white with them, just tell the attitude guy ok u want to do the stock take.
Then that night of stock take tell them you MC.
They will have fun. -
It's only stock take, how much do you expect to take? If you find the pay to fcuking miserable, find something else to do.
