Do you feel Singapore is over populated?

I believe but also rather, too small. Because of many reasons, the public commuters are increasing daily, and traffic are also filled. ERP and additional construction of expressways are not going to help much.
What is worst are the additional constructions of new MRT lines. and clearing of natural grass patches into governmental utilities. With the 'higher standards' of living, increase in consumers' growth, foreign employees, ORD'ed NSF, it's no wonder public transportations are so crowded nowadays.
Encouragement for babies due to aging society? Or is it an excuse solely for profital and industrial gain, without concern of the maintainence of the population?
It's no suprising Singaporeans wish to go overseas for better days. -

I don't think you can judge demographics based solely on public transport crowding, instead looking at population density figures is more accurate. Given our small land size, it is inevitable that we will face overcrowding in future.
And you're right. Encouraging more babies is a government plan to boost our ageing and declining local workforce. The premise is more economic than anything else. -

I feel Singapore is just like any other cities, any other capitals.
Acherly Singapore is not even a big city, only a mid-size city.
Over populated? Maybe, but all cities are over populated, no?

there'll surely be overcrowding, at least for a while, judging from the speed of land reclaimation and development of new land. however, the old people arent gonna live forever and theres this aging population problem. so there, problem solves by itself.
yes, for economic reasons, we need a workforce of young people... else its a aging population and things will go downhill from there as the ancients leave the workforce. dun mind me calling them names.
i think that one of the reasons why the govt has to promote ex-cons to employers is precisely because of this reason... and old people r encouraged to "stay active" to "contribute" back to society.
however, the powers that be are too bloody damn rich to realise that with this high standard of living with every damn thing so expensive, no one will have a lot of children, less the malays and catholics (ah, i cite protection problems, not racist or against any religion). why? its only because that parents want the best for their children, to receive the best education they can get and so forth.
they try to offset this by using the stupid cheapskate tax cuts and incentives. however, i think that it is too little too late.
monopoly of the government (one sided view), public transportation, and every damn thing in singapore, inflation, decreasing pay exacerbates this population problem.
meanwhile, they themselves are getting so much richer. so, they want babies, they make it themselves. or help every local and get very much poorer from it.

the fact that they have to rely "foreign talents", not counting construction workers, prostitutes, gigglos, con artists, and the like, may be attributed to the aging population.
the way i see it, they are just taking a piece of sh*t, put it in a nice box, repackage it, and give it to the public.
but thats just me.
or maybe their one eyed view of the universe tells them that foreigners are better coz they are cheap, and hardworking. of course, we wouldnt be very expensive if things arent so costly in the first place. -
