There is only two reason why a country will want to conquer Singapore. The first is that they want to use Singapore as a base to repair their warships and to deploy their troops. The second reason is that Singapore is being a pest.
Under the circumstances of the first scenario, the enemy will want to conquer Singapore with minimum damage to the facilities. The usage of nuclear bombs will be unlikely. The enemy will most probably want to sign a treaty like the one Japan signed with Thailand in WW2. Well Singapore can resist them but for how long? Like many pointed out, our army is small and is led by inexperienced generals. How high will our morale be? What are the chances of winning? Under such scenario wont it be better to sign the treaty or the army go into hiding and form the resistance. Guerilla (i dun noe how to spell it) has been proven to be effective.
In the second scenario the enemy will just either bomb or shell us to death. There is no need to fight at all. The enemy's aim is to destroy us. Well, it will be better for us to run won't it. Hot blooded young man can then join the resistance if they are so patroitic.
So now the question of fight or run?
Well i do not know. I will first need to assess the strategy Singapore uses and the Generals leading us. If the stategy is not effective or the generals do not have the ability. i will definitely not sacrifice myself needlessly. I would rather escort my families out of Singapore and join the resistance which entitle me with the choice of leaving as and when i want. Ever watch the Patroit that will be way i fight, in a grp with Gibson and not with the silly main army. In the end I will choose this: Fight when we have a chance run when hope forsake. -

Actually when the tension of war begins, what will be the exact scenario and factors involved?? I think all of us stop anyhow assume coz we will not be the one making the call, PAP and SAF does.
First scenario: Tension of war, u think all NS men are allowed to leave the country?? Unless u can predict yrs ahead a war is going to break out and leave before even the tension starts....

2nd: Air strikes. 1 X CVN (Nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier) is capable of carrying more than 80 multirole fighters and support aircraft. in addition, they will position the USAF within striking distance in allied countries.
they will achieve air superiority easily if not immediately as their Tomahawks has already destroyed vital installations or is working in tandem. they'll win by sheer numbers with experienced fighter pilots. commando elements infiltrate and paints targets for the pilots who destroys them quickly and effectively.
3rd: US Marines and Army heavily supported by Close Air Support and shelling from naval guns.
4th: we die/surrender. they conquered Iraq quickly. ours will be in a matter of days, if not hours.
anyway, from what i know, USA's trump card in war has always been their air force, because it's the number 1 most freaking strong in the world. their other trump card is the neutron bomb, of course.

einstein is wrong liao. when he made that statement, it's with the knowledge and assumption of the atomic bomb. he never thought that nuclear technology will progress to such a state today, and now we're talking about the neutron bomb and inter-continental nuclear missles. the atomic bombs in WW II only can be dropped from the sky. now it's able to fly everywhere and inflict way more damage.
