  Someone please explain to me the purpose of having such a large and expensive TV there when all it seems to do is show the news.

  And to those silly people who think we HAVE to donate just because we from NUS, that's plain stupid. We dont donate coz we have an idea of what they use the money for.

  Even if they're really putting the money to good use, why should it be alumni donating?? This is the govt's responsibility. It's not as if they have no money from all the myriad forms of taxes.

  Wa. Last time I didn't have tv at YIH.
  
  Nothing wrong with these facilities and amenities, it's good to have them, but it would be nicer if more money can be channelled to real people instead of material things.
  
  Many student groups are underfunded for their activities, and there are poor students who have to look for scholarships/ loans/ part time jobs. I wish more money can be channelled for the students.

  Actually when Im thinking of donations or charities.....I will think of African children, those type, or some cancer foundation type, or other such things. Never in my mind would I think of donating to NUS. NUS is rich. Seems unnatural and counter-intuitive.

  I would help my fellow undergraduates in need, but I'm in need as well, though I don't qualify for any financial aid.
  
  I've taken out 100% loans and give tuition three times a week for my pocket money.
  
  And seriously, even after I graduate and hold a steady job, I may not donate to my alma mater. I find it hard to do so considering that they can build huge new expensive buildings and install large TV sets in the clinic and yet not repair the freakin' LT7 which leaks terribly during a downpour.
