Hardware address? If you mean MAC address, MAC address can be spoofed.
if you don't know how to do that then use two network cards, one card for macdonald surfing, one card for other network.
even if police recorded down my hardware address, so what?
they don't know who uses that address.
this is the perfect method I thought about, no flaw!
have you taken thumbprints recently?Originally posted by weeie:hmm when i press the spacebar only 1/5 or maybe lesser of my thumb(at the side) hit the space bar...and i thought when you do thumbprint... it only consists very little part of the side of thumb?
nope...those i took in bank not so particular leh.. just twist left and right okay liao. i think it might help but it may not be 100% accurate.Originally posted by hisoka:have you taken thumbprints recently?
from what i recall the person takign your prints will "roll" your thumb side to side too. so the side of the thumb does get "printed"
but how unique is that and how accurate is the evidence based on the side is beyond me![]()
lolOriginally posted by kog:You see, there is no database to check a given MAC address is used by who. They know MAC address also no use. They don't know who uses it.
Unless the police do not wear uniform and standby in MacDonald all day, they will not be able to catch me.
i believe they did caught a few scapegoats lol...and i think these people are usually sharing the files with others..Originally posted by Deunamist:we don't even know if they really got catch people or just say to scare ppl only.![]()

yeap there is a list of valid hardware addresses by the different vendors because each of them are allocated a specific range to bind to their hardwares (yes downloadable)...but in mac spoofing, you can't determine the real hardware addresses still because all the headers are crafted... you can only make use of this list of valid hardware addresses to help determine whether is it a spoofed mac address/valid mac address to increase the reliability in proofing someone using a spoofed mac address.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Unless you sell your PC or hardware... there's a chance that it is in database...
All hardwares abide by a standard code of naming their hardware. This makes it easy to trace by the brands, because each brand uses a different coding. There's a list online, but I can't find it now.
Some network cards can change, but one time only. Again, saw it somewhere online, but I lost that list. It's only a few years ago that this is allowed.Originally posted by weeie:yeap there is a list of valid hardware addresses by the different vendors because each of them are allocated a specific range to bind to their hardwares (yes downloadable)...but in mac spoofing, you can't determine the real hardware addresses still because all the headers are crafted... you can only make use of this list of valid hardware addresses to help determine whether is it a spoofed mac address/valid mac address to increase the reliability in proofing someone using a spoofed mac address.
anyway, this is only one of the few techniques used in conjunction with the others to determine people using spoofed mac address. there are other techniques as well such as identifying the pattern of traffic, so on and so forth.
oh yah, some hardwares also allow users to change the mac address (not spoofed) provided they enabled this option. i seen it before although it's not a network card.
yeah of course...its original aim is not for detecting spoofed addresses but it helps.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Some network cards can change, but one time only. Again, saw it somewhere online, but I lost that list. It's only a few years ago that this is allowed.
The list of hardware addresses are to prevent fake stocks though... not to determine if it is spoofed or not. In a way, it does help to detect spoofed addresses, but that's not its main aim.
Pattern of traffic is usually not that important, unless somebody tries hacking. It can be done, it is taught in school (at least in RP).
You can easily check this through command prompt in Windows...
Exact syntax is arp -a
If somebody tries something, you should be able to see.
netbios and netstat too...
Oh... the softwares I have worked differently... so it's OK...Originally posted by weeie:yeah of course...its original aim is not for detecting spoofed addresses but it helps.
pattern of traffic is important in detecting spoofed address because some spoofed wares allow users to generate different random mac address during a connected session. and many lame people are using this kinda technique as well...it's more of creating confusion at times (self-taught)
You are assuming too many things, matter is not that complicated actually.Originally posted by weeie:lol
you don' t have any idea from the above method i mentioned...the admin don't even need to see what real/spoofed mac addresses you are using. it's only up to them whether they wanna pursue the matter.
just by detecting users connected to their network(with spoofed mac addresses) can do a lotsa things already. if i'm the admin and i'm guai lan...i will log down your surfing activity which includes downloading mp3 from where and how many mp3 are you downloading...then i go to you while you are happily eating your big mac/downloading to stop you from leaving until the police arrives.
and with the list of mp3s inside your notebook+mac spoofing wares+abuse macdonald network+many shit are more than enough to convict you.
anyway i don't think they so eng to do this la just like many people not that eng like you to go mac and use another network card+spoofed mac to download mp3. LOL . they could just do it at home......only noob go mac to download.
And you think kids don't know.Originally posted by hatemeifuwantto:aiyo...theres no way a mp3 will be 100% legal de la...anyway u think wat police man dun have pirated stuff de ar? i got trustable links de ok..n police do alot of stuff u dunno wan lo
