IMO, if a camera is too light, it is more prone to handshake when one is pressing down on the shutter button. It needs to be slightly heavy to be steady in your hand. So a light and small camera is not always a good thing.Originally posted by pierre^^:Must be light and have big screen
I currently own a Nikon Coolpix S3, but i found that it is nt very useful when taking pics w/o flash as easily blur lei

No matter the technology, with/out flash, I seem to have problems with Sony's SSS(PLBV?Originally posted by PointBlue:Nonsense. Sony's SS technology involves shifting the CCD of your device to counteract your motion, controlled by two gyros detecting horizontal and vertical shake. It is very effective, allowing you to shoot up to 3 stops faster than recommended.
Many people here do not know what they're talking about.
The other issue is the shape of the camera. personally, I hate those little boxy jobs - they're awkward to hold and keep steady.Originally posted by Croaking_Toad:IMO, if a camera is too light, it is more prone to handshake when one is pressing down on the shutter button. D80 or D200, dunno which to choose leh... if I get D80 then I will be able to get the Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 also...Originally posted by Haoz30:No matter the technology, with/out flash, I seem to have problems with Sony's SSS(PLBV?). Surprisingly, brands like Samsung and Casio have much better anti-shake than Sony's (low range, I havent tried the SSS on Alpha yet).
Samsung low range cams (S series) kinda jialat. But new generation (NV series) draws gd feedback/reviews. Casio cameras are slim and print-outs are nice for mid-range (Z 60/600/70) but CMI for high end (Z1000 and S770).
p/s: waaaah PointBlue getting D80 ah? *envy* I also saving money for it... still long way to fo though![]()
I have a friend who owns a S3IS, tried it and I thought it was not bad for a prosumer camera. Didn't like the tiny grip thoughOriginally posted by Gedanken:The other issue is the shape of the camera. personally, I hate those little boxy jobs - they're awkward to hold and keep steady.
For the past few years I've been quite happy with my Canon PowerShot S1IS. It's got 10X optical zoom, manual setting options, takes AA batteries so I've always got available power and it's comfortable to hold. The S1's now been superceded with the S3IS which has 6MP compared to the S1's 3.2, and it also has a macro setting for the lens which the S1 didn't.
Rather than using the automatic setting, I usually go for manual and get some half-decent results in various lighting conditions.
With ur skills, u might be better off with a D200. Personally I find the D200 with the tele lens a bit too heavy for my liking =P And I'm not yet pro enuff to put the D200 to full use.Originally posted by PointBlue:D80 or D200, dunno which to choose leh... if I get D80 then I will be able to get the Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 also...![]()
