2 today he asked in mandarin, "xiao jie, can i hav one dollar, i said no..ask fr the control downstairs, he said v paiseh, i said "ask fr mi not paiseh la?" ask fr the mrt, the garment is the riches. he said thkx, i walk off.
*beware if u dont give he might threaten or push u 2 jump with him. this is what i think.

If they have the ability to walk/talk, I believe they can find a job...it just that whether they want to do it or do their best in their job.
My mum also quite old liao, but she also go work to help increase the hosehold income. -

There was this primary school boy who came up to me to ask me for change to take the bus, I didn't have any loose change, so I gave him a $2 note. He didn't look too happy, but I was in a rush.

today i saw an old man who seemed like he never ever rinsed his mouth and his teeth was stuck with lots of food at dover mrt bus stop and he asked me how to walk to bukit timah which i dont know, cos he is gonna work as a dishwasher for $600 a month and today is his first day, and he walked from clementi to dover cos his 20+ year old son wouldn't work and wants his dad to work and he only listens to his wife who has a tatoo. after asking a few more people he came to the conclusion that he really needed to take mrt then he asked for $2 from me to take mrt. then i gave him and he went. -

I think I know who the old ah-pek that you're talking about. I work in Jurong East and usually while waiting for the bus, there is this old man that will come up to me and speak in a very soft tone.
He'd ask for a dollar or two dollars and says that he wants to use it for the bus fare. I gave him money one time but the following days I see him doing the same thing from other people day to day.
He bought a pack of loaf one day and that got me thinking, if he could afford to buy bread, he could afford to pay for his own bus fees right?
I dont wish to sound cruel or anything like that. But come on.
I dont need to take the bus to buy provisions. I can just walk there.
There are rare days when I dont have money and I had to be thick skin to ask for a little cash
But those days are rare.
Maybe I am a little harsh but I earn my money is hard earned. I'd rather give money to buskers than give it so easily like that. -
But he needs to eat right? I'd think he'd need it more for food than bus fares. But perhaps he just needs to get to crowded places to beg. Poor thing.

You see, if i brush aside their pleas, I feel bad. OTOH, if I give them money I walk away wondering if I've been played for a fool.
I was once accosted in the city by this lady who said she needed some money to go home. She was either genuine or a very good actress. Still, I said no and went to McDs to get lunch. Now, over lunch, I couldn't help wondering if i had done the right thing! here I was speding an idyllic afternoon reading my magazine and stuffing food in my gob - meters away there could be someone who is too poor to go home and who just needs a break... -

i dun give money to beggers.
cos i bring only 3 dollars to work. and my lunch cost me 3 dollars. water i bring my own.
so if i give 1 dollar to them, i would not be able to my lunch. i will have to starve myself the whole day.
and when im hungry, i cant think properly. and when i cant think properly, i will make mistakes on my job. and when i make mistakes on my job, i will get sack. and when im sacked, i will have to go and beg for money if i cant find another job. and when i beg for money, i might cause another good hearted person to face the similiar situation as me.
so i cant give money to beggers or i will cause other people to lose their job. -
