I check the construction going on at the corner of New Upper Changi Road and Bedok Ave 3.
Yes it will be a Town Centre.
Kopi tiams/retail outlets on the ground floor units, and residential units above the block of flats comming up there.
Looks like no shopping mall for Bedok.
Anyway I went to Vivocity today.
It is another "been to one, been to all" shopping mall.
Its bigger yes, but all the time I was asking myself how is this different from Taka, Tampines Mall, Junction 8, Jurong Point, East Point and any other shopping point in Singapore. They all look alike inside.
So just as well Bedok has no shopping mall.
I am getting old, I will love Bedok.
When the queue at Murugan's Toto outlet is too long, I can stroll over to Geylang United to get my toto tickets. -

anyway, the bowling alley also closed down not soon after and now the place is LAN, pool and Kbox. -

A bigger Bedok Town Centre for ah peks?
They are also making a linkway from Bedok Ave 3 to the PIE, I think this is in preparation for that project completion.

Bedok made up of mostly 3 & 4-rm. there are more old people & lower income.
The richer East residents will shop at Parkway & Tampines.
No point having so many malls. Everything more expensive due to higher rental. Also more competition for HDB shops, later more will close down.
Last time there were talks abt a mall coming up at the empty land next to Tanah Merah MRT but so far nothing...
