Why bedok no shopping mall?

  I've taken pics of Hillview HDB demolition only (Can see the destruction of the buildings clearly) Never taken pics of demolition of other buildings before..
  
  Too bad now its flattened. No more pics to take loh.
  
  Anyway, i always feel sorry for the building thats being demolished. Feels abit nostalgic. The last pic of the website, the building like very ke lian (poor thing) like that.

  1 bomb can demolish all the building...
  
  if i open store there = counting my doom
  1st high rental fees = high start up cost.
  
  2nd low traffic flow = low income
  
  3rd competition among store = 1 foot in coffin liao

  They will be building a shopping mall of some sort at the plot of land in front of Tanah Merah MRT Station. Not exactly Bedok, but extremely near.

  Bedok central is good enough. Even when there is no shopping mall, it is already good enough that it has 2 macdonald outlets, kfc, long-johns, pizza hut, burger king, cheap jap food/sushi, some bean drink outlet, loads of coffeeshop and hawker stores everywhere, cinema, tons of vcd shops, comics connection, this fashion, clothes store, bags store, phone shops, post office, posb/dbs, guardian, bubble tea store, Eu Yan Sang, 2 stores of watsons (1 cosmetics), hair accessory shop, loads of shoe stores, 2-storey NTUC, polyclinic, sports store, a well-stocked library (at least better than Tampines library I swear), 7 eleven and one green area for skating and park facilities. Giant in Bedok is also another kind of NTUC, and there is a money changer there, just as some malls do. Bedok has almost everything necessary like mall hubs, only that it has an older nostagic kind of feel to it, maybe also cos I lived near here for so many years to know it well enough.
  
  The only bad thing is that I cannot find a proper stationary/bookstore. Last time remember there used to be a small unit of Popular but they moved out years ago. Then there used to be Big-Bookstore next to library but Cash-converter took over after it closed down. Also Bedok is not a typical choice for clothes shopping for youngsters I think.
  
  But it is also sad that Giant there is said to be moving out to Tampines. Dunno who's gonna take over there.

  luckily pasir ris have shopping mall & cinema(coming out soon if i'm not wrong by this year at downtown).

  As on Wednesday 14/03/2007, the whole DBS building has been cleared. Pavilion will be the next, noticed that the erection of scaffoldings is going on there right now and also the metal barriers/fences has extended to the Pavilion building from the DBS building site.

  Simple reason why Bedok no mall...
  
  Becuz Bedok got good [and cheap] ALMOST 24 hour hawker centre. Plus, the police centre probably took up the spot for the proposed mall

  Jurong East quite sad also. Supposed to be the regional hub next to Woodlands and Tampines, but only got a silly Jurong Entertainment Centre next to MRT. Ok lah got IMM but it's freaking inaccessible. Thats why all the crowd in Jurong are drawn to Jurong Point.

  By buiding a mall by overtaking the land that is currently Bedok theatre also good lah, that building's only open business is Macdonalds. It's almost a derelict building.. lol
