juz keep ur eyes and ears open, see how they behave, how they talk.
i think parents have the right to cane their children.

i was slapped twice on my face at the age of 16 by my dad bcoz of a misunderstanding.
tat slaps caused bruises and temporary deafness on my ear.
he got scared after tat and never hit me anymore.
moral of the story: endure lor until one day he will realise it.

& then he didnt boil the soup,so i ate the rice after my parents had ate it.
then he started to scold me o.o

No, not all dads behave like that, but it *is* more common in Asian parents coz traditionally we keep our emotions pent up. I get a feeling he's angry about something else, maybe related to you maybe not, but he can't solve the problem and is taking it out on you. I was raised in a more....er...western way.. so from my POV he's being irresponsible. Lashing out at you doesn't solve anything and you appear confused... plus you're so young. Somehow he's gotta learn that it's doing you more harm than good (it is, isn't it?) and change.
I dunno if it's a solution u're after, but it helps to be in control of your emotions/situations.. learn to recognize the signs right before a caning, and make sure you're not conveniently "lazing" around when your parent needs to vent anger. -

oh come on, why is it that some people thinks that the current crop of youth are ill-disciplined?? Have we all forgot that we were once like them too? We had our rebellious days and times, and we all once did something to show that we are grown-up, that we are macho or cool, but is actually stupid.
I think using cane is a bit too much, but it all depends on the situation. The TS never really state why her father cane her, so i cannot comment much. -

and i certainly didn't behave like the current bunch of pansies or youths like people call them.
the ill-discipline derives from the fact that their parents didn't punish them enough. i've seen kids demanding their maids pick up stuff they dropped on the floor, what is he going to grow up into?
alot of them have maids now, get driven to school, lead the comfortable life and when they are thrown out of it, they whine and complain about the tiniest things... there's a whole lot more to list.
i've seen my cousins go from spoilt brats, when they had maids. to more logical and sound human beings after all that "support" was taken away from them.
being rebellious is always part of a teenager's phase. you can tell when one is rebellious OR just plain lacking basic discipline/respect. -
avoid. don't bother. he's just trouble. when he comes around and be nice,
siam. if he tries to get you to do work for him, siam or taichi it to someone else. say you're very busy. study, study, study. if can, study at school library.
best don't see him. if he asks why, act blur and say you're too busy studying.
don't have time for him. if he buys your fav food, say no appetite. basically, bochap him and he will no reason to cane you. No caning means you live your life better. dads who cane over trivia are sick pple.

to TS, just bear with it lor... Have to show him that you are a grown up, not a kid anymore. Sooner or later, he will stop it realising that you have grown. However, if you are like being disrespectful, dun say you are 16, even if you are 30+ i would also make sure I cane you like some fag.
Lol. My dad once caned me when I was blocking his view while he was watching tv. and my mum caned me using those spilt bamboo poles simply because my writing wasnt nice enough for her. Well, tat was all in the past. I hate it then, still hate it but I wont be who I am if not for those screwed up whackings. So I am still thankful for my parents and everything.
Now they know who I am, a grown up kiddo who knows what he wants and they respect it and I respect them too.
