when was the last time you visited Haw par villa, also know as, Tiger Balm gardens? it's free entry now and most of the statues are still ard...except for the slides that was introduced somewhere in from late 80's or early 90's...
i remember going there once and tickets cost something like $16...there used to be a boat ride which takes you ard the 10 courts of hell...though the rides are no longer there, you can still visit the 10 courts of hell...the walk through haw par villa may be tiring due to the steep slopes, but it's very enlightening...you can find chinese folk classics like the Journey to the West, Bai se zuan, and more...
also, there is Hua Song, a museum where you can view antique artefacts and learn more about chinese history...a chinese restaurant serving tim sum and chinese cuisine...but the price is relatively high since it's a restaurant...if you're looking for something that's cheaper, there's also a cafeteria selling hot dogs, toasts, and even zhi char...should try the hor fun, really very nice! the fried rice is also very tasty...at $5 per plate, it may cost more than your neighbourhood kopi tiam, but since it's a place of interest, i find it acceptable... -

It was quite a long time ago that I last visited it.
I think there were quite a lot of maintenance (improvement) carried out. Maintenance works still being carried out every working day.
It is closed in the evening.
Will make a point to visit it in the near future. -
long long long ago... it's an SOP for parents to bring there kids there... or tourist to go...... u check with all those over 30 yrs old now one lor.. who dun have pic of them taken there when they are still a kids??

i was terrified when i sat in the 18 levels of hell boat ride, n was tramatized after that.... that was during sku excursion...
den i oso remember got some chinese dance or something performance show at the ampitheatre -

I almost worked there. I accepted the job verbally, haven't signed the appointment letter. Before my first day of work, I called to ask what is the required dress code. The person said "anything will do, cuz you'll be given a costume to wear" I was like....
After that, I called again to turn down the job. -

In fact i brought an Indon fren to Haw Par Villa few weeks back. He is someone with spiritual learning.
He seemed 'disturbed' when we visited the ten halls of hells. I seldom see him behaved in this way as he alwys has been a very jovial person.
Next, he asked me if the HPV is built on a cemetary ground and he commented that the place will be very scary at night and he cld feel many souls wandering out there.
Lastly, the trip was truncated at his request. -

the only thing i think i remember is this exhibit with people drowning in a pool of green acid or something like that. and another exhibit where by bodies were skewered on this roller with spikes. and i was super young lar wth.

their initial publicity n image is not bad....the flyers r nice looking and all...but dunno wat happened after a few yrs
