Correct way of hugging

May I know the correct way of hugging where both parties will feel comfortable?
The guy's arms going above the girl's shoulder or the other way round or one arms above the shoulder while the down going below the other's arms? -

either way which u mentioned. the degree depends on how close u are to her and what kind of person she is.

Stretch arm over the back of her shoulders, hand gives her shoulder a firm but brief squeeze/shake. Hold few seconds while giving words of encouragement, let go, step back and smile. That's a surprise hug from a guy friend that left a lasting impression on me - one that didn't feel intrusive / offensive. -

and i guess depend on culture.
In Singapore, I don't hug "girl" friends.... but i relocated to the US. over here hugging is pretty much the norm.
even for colleagues that are remote and didn't see for long time.... hug lor... to behonest i felt weird at first.... now more comfortable but not completely at least...
i typically use one hand and over the gal's shoulder.. the other arm is limp... and rest the first arm behind her... and hand will pat her back once/twice and say polite things like "good to see you again" or "have a good flight". -
You only ask and think about this kind of things if you have indecent thoughts.
If just friendly hug, then I dun think there will be any issues. -

But yeah I will open up my arms and let the girl come into me and just do a light hug... the left arm over the back and the right arm more or less limp. -

I think there is no correct or wrong hug, you just have to judge for yourself if it's appropriate to hug your lady friends or not. Some girls are okay with friendly hug, some girls are not.
I don't think the TS has indecent thoughts, perhaps, inexperience with girls? Seriously, as long as your thoughts are not dirty, then you will automatically hug appropriately. So, just relax. -
