Will the immigration at Changi Airport be jammed with Chinese tourists?
I agree that a lot of Chinese people are uncivillised and plain irritating... But fortunately the Chinese friends whom I know are nice people and they are civilised and considerate. (Hence my impression of the Chinese is still not so negative...)

As a Chinese, I feel so sad when I read your post. Everything you mentioned are happening in China. As a civilized people from an advance country, we understand your feel. It's very easy for you to see , to remember and to aganist the kind of rude scene.
However, how long do you stay in China? How much do you know China other than this? All Singaprean are very well mannered and well behaved? Is this only happen in China? Obeviously everywhere has good and bad sides.
I will translate your post and put on China's BBS, we can see now most of Chinese youngers are much better, this is the improvements. Changing so many people in such a big country is not as simple as in Singapore, size of China is almost 15,000 times bigger than Singapore. But with time being, this kind of things will become less.
My opinion is that you guys can animadvert this kind of rude thing happened in China, but do not look down up Chinese.
Whoever you are, our personality are equal. Don't you think so? -

i tend to avoid lifts carryin chinese nationals; i will go deaf. my collik commented dat they tok as if they're shoutin over to each other frm diff ends of tiananmen and will nt hesitate to say it in theirs faces. stil, they dun gib a damn. n mind u, these r young ppl.
once, i ended up in the same lift wif dem. boy, it was a horror havin to endure the noise. but one particular voice caught my attn - a guy's. unlike his frd who were pitting against each other to speek at the same time in their loudest volume, he was very soft spoken. i stole a glance at him.
these young ppl oways hv to shove n push to get into or out frm the lift, like their older generation's. n it was wat dat bunch did when we got to the 1st.
i oways hold the lift till all exit. i admit most sporeans or eben foreigners c me as invisible; some will eben chat, luff n stroll out thru the door. bt when i hold fer chinese nationals, i get f***in pissed (stop knockin into me or my super exp bag, u pc of ****!), but i nt gng to stoop to their level, so juz cont to hold.
aft the bunch rushed fer reincarnation liao, i noticed the soft spoken guy was at the other buttons panel. he gestured for me to step out 1st. impressive. i smiled n thanked him in genuine appreciation. oly ppl like him deserve basic courtesy n respect. -

You make valid points. I haven't stayed long term in China and have only visited China thrice, and I do agree that Singaporeans aren't immune to such trends. Truth be told, Singapore does have its own share of misbehaving and inconsiderate people, and so does every country.
I also agree that young China Chinese are much better. My visits to China confirmed that fact, since I have not encountered any problems with the teenagers there, although many of them still spit regardless.
I do not look down upon Chinese, because I am one. Rather, I am hopeful for a change, not a provocation. Yet, as I mentioned in my post, change, for the older generation at least, is near impossible.
Once again I thank you for helping translate this page. I dare not expect zero criticism from your China BBS forum, but I do sympathize with China. My post was made aiming at Singaporean readers, so do not take the anecdotes too seriously.

You weren't there. It wasn't just the uncle beside me, but his companions as well.
It is easy to point at someone else online and scream cowardice, but if you have seen such widespread behavior in China, you'll know that they have accepted spitting as a norm.
And from my brief experience, arguing against social norms is suicide.

So, I have two choices. One is two endure the spitting, while the other is to endure a confrontation. If you've read my post (which isn't so much about just spitting on the plane only), you'd understand which would be a better choice.
But I dare not deny that some part of me prefers to avoid a verbal battle on an international flight. Even if I were to confront the Chinaman, I would "come online to complain" regardless, for it is my intention to do so as it was the overall experience rather than a single encounter in China that prompted me. -

I hope you don't read too much into that reply. "Aimed at Singaporean readers" meant just that. It IS sgForums, so obviously the target audience are Singaporeans.
As much as I would love to say how polite and well-mannered China Chinese are, sadly that's not the case. Many would agree with me here.
