What is the best way to clean a fan?

any idea?
is it safe to spray water onto the fan to wash away the dust? -
Water and mechanical moving parts don't mix.
Take it apart and wash them piece by piece, then dry them. As much as it is a chore, I do it also. -
soak the whole fan into a pail of water hahah ..kidding
you can open the 'metal grid' and use a wet cloth to wipe the blade .
as for the 'metal grid' / 'cover' you can wash with water > make sure it's dry before you place it back on to the fan -

for ceiling fan
1. Take tissue paper and wipe the fan blades and motor area first
(alternate can use the vaccum)
2. Wipe with wet cloth soaked in soap water
3. and again clean with use of plain dry cloth

can rid the dust particles.. but the oil n all that shyt still there (referrin to fans in the livin room n kitchen.. applicable to fans in the room.. if u dun close the door when cookin) -
hold a wet cloth and press it against on of the blades, then turn the fan on at the slowest speed. the fan cleans itself

Got lazy way - just take off the fan cover and wipe whatever visible... but takes x 2 times longer than taking fan apart to wash and still not as effective..Originally posted by dragg:so there is no better way. -
