  my younger sis also got honors.. work for goverment too.and her pay havent reach take home 3 k yet.

  A good hons degree in the civil service only determines your starting pay, which is slightly higher than the private sector. For example, if you join the Singapore Prison Service, the starting pay for 1st class hons holders is 3.5k++. However, how far you can go from there is strictly based on performance and other factors, and no matter how good and how well you perform, you will always be below the pecking order when some PSC or some funny scholars return from their 4 yr mugging course overseas.
  
  If given a choice, I will always choose the private sector. Don't be enticed by the 2.2mths. Its not alot actually. My bro is working as an engineer in the private sector, his company gives him transport allowance of $1,200 every month, on top of paying for his handphone bills, allowances for entertaining clients, holiday rewards for the family for good performers, and of course, a competitive pay package. He says that all these perks is like having a 5 mth bonus every year.
  
  Like what i always say, avoid joining the civil service unless you are one of the scholars. After these people retire, they become bigshots in the ministries and other statuatory organisations. If you have a pass degree and sign on with the armed force, most prob you will be assigned to become some OM/AM of some school.Its true that income will still be coming in, but i don't think its a particularly good job that you look foward to every morning.
