  seriously, how many percent of the private companies out there give out fat bonuses? which industries give out fat bonuses?
  
  2.2 months is considered a lot for those who dont get any bonus or very little bonus but it is a little for those who get several mths bonus.

  Its not a rumour, its true. My pal is chemical engineer for bp, he kinda works offshore, but he got it. 1 sweet year worth.

  not neccessary so for those paid by the week. this is considered norm in western country. just look at it this way. how many weeks are there in a year? 52. how many weeks are there in a month? 4. how come 4 x 12 != 52? i don't considered the thirteenth month bonus as bonus at all. it's rightfully ours. i always pity those temporary workers who got fired at year-end. they have been working for a month without pay!?!!

  i know of people who get 15 months bonus last year.. the drawback is however that their monthly salary range in a couple of hundreds. no wonder those foreign labours are so happy at year-end.

  gahment sector maybe. private sector must depends on which industry one is in. my company is currently going through a major management change. lots of staffs have already left. everything is still very unstable.
